I upgraded to the gtx 1060 3gb.
After I installed it, I tried booting my PC and it got stuck in a POST loop with a black screen.
My mobo will beep, try to post, then beep again, then try to post again ect.
I let it sit in this loop for a few minutes and then I got the mobo code '4E' (Initialize APIC and set MTRR) and my monitor finally had the POST text (it was always black before this). Then after a few seconds stuck in 4E, it boots again and so on.
Tried re-seating the card, tried clearing CMOS, tried using a different power cable, tried wiping the old drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). tried installing in another pcie slot, with no avail.
I plugged in my old card (gtx 285) and everything posted normally.

Hello,

Unfortunately the 790i chipset does not support UEFI BIOS which would be required for the GTX 1060 to be installed. This is a very obscure requirement and I do apologize if there was any confusion. Your motherboard would be compatible with 600 series cards and below.

Good find, Sajin! Thank you!
In that case try the latest BIOS update here: http://www.evga.com/support/download/
Let us know whether it works or not, otherwise please test the card in an UEFI compatible board.

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies.
I called my local pc repair shop this morning and I told him my issue. He assured me that HALF of the gtx 1060s he's dealt with were bricks. (hard to believe) He told me to return it, so I did.
When I installed my second 1060 I had the same exact issue. That's when I came back to the forums and saw what everyone had to say.
I flashed my BIOS, hooked up the 1060 but unfortunately it did not POST.
I guess its finally time to overhaul my rig to play BF1
I really appreciate everyone's help. This community is why I choose to buy EVGA components. Thanks again.

Will my GA-Z68XP-UD3 rev. 1.3 support a EVGA GeForce GTX 1060?
