I am not too miffed about the shipping time personally. I am waiting on a new tube of Arctic MX4 (finally used up my old one) and the last core part of my rebuild, that being a new SSD, which isn't coming until the 16th. The MX4 should arrive by USPS first, so I will be good and ready to re-assemble the GPU when the the time comes.

I've been patient but now I'm getting annoyed. There's no communication and it's taking way too long - this isn't a gift - this is a fix for a problem. It's good that they're offering these but otherwise this has been a disaster - it will certainly give me pause next time I'm looking for a graphics card.

Just adjust your fan curve until it arrives, the cards are running within spec and the major issue has only affected a few cards. The new BIOS will do this for you and you can run fine until the pads come in.

That misses the point.  This has been handled horribly.  There's no excuse for how poorly they have communicated and failed to keep anyone properly updated.  People shouldn't have to be guessing as to when their pads will ship.

I disagree, They have had great communication and have answered all my support tickets extremely fast (even with this happening). There is no "guessing" when the pads will ship, it will ship when they get them and package them. Its not like they had these on hand; they have to order them, cut them to spec and then package them. Give them sometime and in the mean time just ramp up your fan curve and update your BIOS.

Yeah +500mhz is the most I can get on my 1080 GTX F|E memory clock(5500mhz). It starts to artifact/flicker beyond that point. I wouldn't run a +500mhz 24-7 either, +400 mhz or 5400mhz memory is more than adequate for a 1080GTX with GDDR5X memory.

When are your pads shipping?  When you can actually answer that question then you can disagree.

You can't give an estimate when you waiting on a supplier getting you pads. I personally opt'd with a cross shipment of a new card, so I have no downtime and no need to install pads. I disagreed with the bad communication from EVGA because it has been great all around (both forums and support tickets).

Wait so let me get this clear, EVGA is asking people to replace their own thermal pads on cards they paid to have been designed correctly the first time? That is just insane!! I would RMA my card and tell them to keep their junk!
Glad I stuck to Founder Edition 1080GTX, these cards do not have any of the issues people are complaining about in the forums.

Your a little off base here: EVGA is giving you the choice to install these pads if you want (shipped free of charge) or you can setup a Advanced RMA for them to install them (again free of charge). Either way its no cost out of your pocket and the pads are also optional and not required as the cards run within the spec. They are even offering free cross shipping if your dont want any downtime.

Will do. Does say that shipping will take 1-2 weeks though. :/

evga is located in cali. they tend to ship ups ground so if you live on the east coast. that's a full week. they put 2 weeks probably for people overseas.

mine shipped yesterday. hopefully mine has the vram pads as well. im not to worried about it though being that i set my own fan curve to basiclly kit 2200RPM while gaming and my gpu never goes past 63C

I took my evga 1070 sc card out of my computer and looked down the gap from the side, and fortunately it looked like my vram thermal pads (at least the first ones anyway) were touching the midplate. Then I thought, well since I have it out of the computer I might as well return it to frys hehe. So I did. Seriously, I went back and forth over what to do.  It seems most of the aftermarket versions of this card do not have good vram and/or vrm heatsinking. Maybe the best I have seen is the Zotac.  Ideally want the generous  conduction path between the vram and main heatsink fins, which Zotac offers.  My second favorite is the MSI gaming x while has a dedicated VRAM plate and dedicated VRM finned heatsink, but even that VRAM plate doesn't appear to touch the main heatsink fins in anyway. Still, MSI gaming x is probably what I would get if I had to choose. I would've bought when I returned the evga but it was out of stock.  using my old asus r9 280x for now, pleasantly suprised it can handle BF1 on high settings now since cpu/ram upgrade and some more deligent OC.  Funny enough r9 280x has no heatsink of VRAM whatsoever!
