Listen people, EVERY card needs the VRAM thermal pad replaced. With thermal pads, you can't just have them barely touching the components. You need to at least have some compression to the pad else the heat transfer will be incredibly inefficient.
All cards in the 10 series line need the VRAM pads replaced with 1.5mm pads.
This is correct.
gladly more and more ppl understand this simple thing..
no matter there are gaps or not, it obviously shows there is not enough pressure for the stock pads to make deep indentation ....
just please dont trust the vram can be passively cooled. it is really fine given only there is open airflow. strictly speaking, micron gddr5 vram is fine when its temp is from 0~95c, according to its datasheet. with backplate and midplate, most of the airflow are blocked, so if heat cant be transfer to the plates, vrams are well done.
dont need to doubt that, just replace all of them especially when evga recommends you to replace them.
be a man, screw driver is a simple tool. you can do it all by yourself, follow the guides like youtube video and some threads at this forums and evga official guide.
