Just wondering why there are so many changes to video card drivers all the time. My other hardware hardly ever gets an update.

That's a good question. I believe it's because the GPU is so complex with billions of transitors,(compared to other components) getting it to work as "ONE" requires some refining. Also new games need the drivers to be changed and tweaked for better optimization. I'm sure there are many other reasons.

Diver updates for New Games as NVIDIA Call their Drivers Game Ready now.
But overall newer drivers are to provide more stable use of your Graphics Card for what ever you use it for.

So why doesn't NVIDIA and AMD get together and say Here is our Driver, if you want to play your game on our hardware make it work? The point I am getting at is why should NVIDIA or AMD write a new driver every time a new game comes out, just make the game maker comply with existing driver.

Most Likely NVIDIA & AMD Gets Big Bucks from the Game Manufactures to Optimize the Driver for their Game.

You should be impressed they care to update as often as they do.

Programmers are people too and they like to eat so we have to give them work to do?

Because game devs are hacks and if at all possible will break anything they touch.
