Does setting all graphics settings to low stop the stutter? If yes, it's definitely a settings issue.

I set all to lowest , graphics are awful and the game is unplayable it keep hanging up

izac3dI really tried that problem still remain, in my previous 960 card I set all to max and had no problem at all

It could be the latest update. Were you still using the 960 after it?

Are your cpu/gpu clocks running at advertised speeds when the stuttering occurs? No overheating on cpu/gpu when stuttering occurs?

No OC at CPU or GPU and no overheating

So your gpu/cpu are running at advertised clock speeds when the stuttering is occurring?

#1 Perform steps #1, #2 #5 & #6 listed here.

#2 Make sure power management mode inside the nvidia control panel is set to adaptive under global settings, make sure power management mode inside the nvidia control panel is set to prefer maximum performance for each of your games under program settings. Reboot PC after making these changes.

#3 Make sure your windows power options are set to high performance.

Report back if stuttering is fixed or not after doing all the above.

I actually meant the latest GTA V patch.

Well, GTA V maxed uses aprox. 4GB as the game itself tells you in the graphic options panel.

I have GTA V non maxed out, but very high, and it says it will use 3000mb, however it finally takes 3800mb... You should use GPU-Z, for example, to see the actual amount of memory that is being used after 10 minutes playing.

I did not have enough time to try everything so I set adaptive power in global settings and max power in gta v profile and that solved the problem, I had only like couple of stutter then the game ran smooth. I set now global settings as max power and tried again (after restart) and found the game still run smooth !!

So thank you so much for that solution but please explain what is adaptive power and why max power solved gta v problem ?

Optimal power: Reduces power consumption when the computer is idle and nothing is changing on the screen, the driver will not make the gpu render a new frame, the driver will use the already rendered frame from the framestore and output directly to monitor to save power.

Adaptive: Allows the graphics driver to automatically determine the proper performance state based on gpu usage. Allows the gpu to render a new frame when needed.

Prefer maximum performance: Makes the card run at its maximum performance state when 3d applications are running regardless of gpu usage. Prefer maximum performance shouldn't be set under the global tab as it can cause your gpu clocks to run at base clock all the time when web browsing.

Using optimal power has been known to create stuttering while gaming.

but when I used my old 960 card I never changed any settings in nvidia cp !!  . another question: I will use adaptive in global but do I must set all my games to prefer max performance or I can leave them to adaptive as well ?
