My wife drove my truck to work today and her company van backed into it. Just a little dent and nobody hurt. They don't want to turn into insurance. Should I take 1000 bucks cash and forget it or call my insurance guy?

You should be able to get that fixed for well under $1k.

I'd take the cash.

I wouldn't request insurance to get involved, but I would want it fixed, so I would take cash and get it fixed.

take the $1000.

Get a rubber mallet and a pot of boiling water and have at it

You could get it fixed and give them the bill.
Even if it less than a grand to fix, would make the wife and family look good. Maybe?

Get a quote at a high quality shop maybe two and then make the decision. If it's over you can still offer them the chance to pay without going through the insurance. You can always decide if or how you want to fix it in either case, but know that the vehicle has lost value as well.
