I just had this happen to me while gaming for the first time yesterday. Black screen on both monitors. No fan speed increase. I had music playing in the background and it continued playing after everything went black. So wasn't a hard crash.

Today it happened again while gaming. Same thing with the music continuing to play. Found this thread and unplugged the reinserted the DisplayPort and my 2 screens came back to life. Weird that my 2nd monitor is connected via hdmi but also rebooted after reinserting the DisplayPort to my main monitor. My game had crashed to desktop. Temps looked normal. Not sure what the problem could be. Maybe the game crashing somehow caused the black screen? Leaning to it being something with the DisplayPort. Idk

Glad it's not just my card. Are you using the cables that came with your monitor(s)?

Yes, using the DisplayPort cable that came with the monitor. Primary monitor is a Dell S2716DG G-sync monitor and using a EVGA GTX 1080 FTW. I'll update if it happens again. Curious to see if my game crashes to desktop every time the screens go black.

OK, new issue - EVERYTHING is on Stock. Stock memory, stock CPU, debug mode GPU.

When performing ANY stress test of any kind, the GPU cuts the signal. Again, all I have to do is disconnect and reconnect and it works.

Any ideas?

Sounds like it's time to start an RMA, but EVGA Tech Support might have something else for you to try if you want to call or email them - http://www.evga.com/about/contactus/

I actually see this problem from time to time on my own cards-  Dell monitors also, might be an issue with them honestly, some of them have had multiple firmware revisions to resolve DisplayPort issues on their forums.

I have the exact same monitor and I am using the stock cable, so far I have had no issues. Running off a non FTW 1080 Hybrid.

This is not a monitor issue. I have three monitors that use DP and all of them have the same issue.

Sounds like it's time to start the rma process. How old is your psu?

All parts are less than a year old - the GPU being the newest.
