Any word on if the Thermal Pads being sent out will include VRAM pads too? We've been seeing reports of those pads being too small and not making correct contact between the chips and baseplate apparently.

i submitted a ticket few days ago but still not yet be responded.

Hey guys, first time posting here.
Bought my 1070 FTW just a month ago, and so far so good. Never had any issue with it.

But, regarding this so called issue, all in all, EVGA states our cards don't need the thermal pad mod, as they will work as intended and "within spec." That's all good. But will EVGA guarantee us customers, those significantly higher VRM temps, compared to other vendors, won't contribute to a premature hardware failure?
This is, of course, if some of us just don't want to take apart our cards to install said pads.
Speaking for myself, I did request the thermal pad mod, but even though I think it's not such an ordeal to take apart the graphics card, I'm a bit reticent since it wasn't cheap.
On the other hand, RMA'ing the card to have those installed doesn't sit well too, since I really don't want to get a refurb that who knows what the previous owner did to it.
This is probably what many other owners have in their mind, and what EVGA needs to clarify.

I think they're basically saying that regardless of if you do the thermal pad mod or not, EVGA's 3 year warranty applies in this case. So if your VRM explodes 3.1 years down the road, you're probably not going to be able to get a free replacement.

Yeah, that's exactly what worries me. Either way, I'll probably install the thermal pads just for peace of mind.

For sure, seems like an easy enough process. And in the process, you can opt to put on a higher quality TIM (thermal paste) for the GPU itself for even better thermals than before the mod. I've been considering going with the GELID GC-Extreme, myself.

Yeah. I still have a bit of AS5, but I'll probably get a good ceramic based paste.

Yeah AS5 may not be the best choice, there are a lot of other paste's out there that do a better job on GPUs.  http://www.tomshardware.c...benchmark,3616-20.html

And EVGA may include some paste with the mod as well.

The PCI connectors are not plugged into the card?

Yeah, I think I'm going with Thermalright CF 3, since it appears no retailer carries Gelid stuff where I live. Plus it's ceramic based.

Look closely - he doesn't have the 2 8-pin power adapters connected.

Still shouldn't have popped though.
