Hi DSP1,

I can confirm that we are on the same page here.

The thermal pads are in no way required and completely optional as mentioned previously, but if a customer would like us to help them with exchanging their card through warranty to install these optional thermal pads then we are willing to do this even though they are not necessary.  We just want our customers to be happy with their product and if lower temps are preferred then we we willing to help with this.

I can confirm that Jacob is one of our product managers and he has access to all of the ins and outs and anything that he says is true.  I am just trying to explain that the cards are running within spec and not overheating without this optional mod.

Thank you for clearing things up for us, it's much appreciated and helps ease a lot of people's minds.

Any chance you can confirm if we choose to go ahead with the RMA/Exchange of our cards through warranty will we be receiving new or refurbished cards if outside 30 days of purchase?

Any idea when we can expect the thermal pads to ship?
The weather is heating up here in Australia so i would like them ASAP.
Also still waiting for my free* powerlink to be approved and posted.

im building my first gaming pc this week. i went with evga everything. this is somewhat concerning considering my choice of gpu is the 1070 ftw.

will these thermal pads ship with instructions on how to install them? i havent even ordered the card yet but i guess ill be getting these as soon as it arrives. fairly confident i can tackle the job but of course if never disassembled a gpu before. will i also need to buy thermal paste?

ughhh....

what kind of time frame can we expect these to be shipped in after the request?

Yup they will come with instructions although they are going to be posted here on the forums once available. So you'll be able to look it over before receiving the pads in the mail along with the instructions.

From what's been advised already it's only pads being sent out. No thermal paste so you will need your own.

The 1070 FTW DT i own has the Samsung memory, and has been running ok up to this point. However, since i began reading everything heat
related concerning these cards, i have ceased in continuing to play games because i have not removed the card out yet for visual inspection.
I've actually decided to stop using the machine altogether till the pads gets here, and i can do my thing. Not even sure what nasty surprises
might be there yet either. Now if i choose to take EVGA up on a replacement, is it possible i will get a 1070 with Samsung memory ? Whats the
story on the memory side of things ? Have EVGA decided to stick with only one kind, or they are still produced with both ? Can i opt to step up
outside the 90 day period ? Do the newer batches of Pascal cards have the thermal pads installed ? so many questions now lol

so from the article of www.gamersnexus.net/news-pc/2661-evga-mosfet-failure-possible-from-thermal-runaway-scenario
We have also been informed that the factory is now making changes to products as they ship, ensuring that new batches of the GTX 1080 FTW and 1070 FTW products will include thermal pads pre-installed.

and as shannonjpower asked if we choose to go ahead with the RMA/Exchange of our cards,
(I have the same question) the cards will replace with the new batces/revisions ?
Because we don't know if the vrm's have torture or others electronic components near the vrm's from the effect of the warm area - overheat and to what effect it can have on lifespan of components!

well good luck to those FTW-cards which are put in a smaller case with/or low airflow. For example those you get in a typical all-in-one solution in the big electronic-warehouses, sometimes they even have the PSU mounted on the top and no additional exhaust or only 80mm. They are merketed as gaming rigs with good GPU and CPU, but the case, the PSU and mobo are usually weak. Those cases get easily 50-60 C when heated up while gaming...had 2 of them years ago.
