I just received my 1070 SC Black edition and the thermal request page says this:
YOU HAVE NO QUALIFIED REGISTERED PRODUCTS

Is any of the black edition owner had any chance ordering them ?

Have you registered you GPU and uploaded your receipt?

Do we really need to upload a receipt for them to send out thermal pads? Surely serials are enough? I have 2 1070 FTW's registered but I have't uploaded the receipts yet.

thermal pads requested, EVGA power link is also requested for a while now...

i don't mind installing them myself, my card so far is functioning perfectly and if it should unexpectedly go all Samsung on me i can still RMA it.
just to be on the safe side and for better temps i'll install these pads myself, but i require at least a printout or some picture guide where exactly the pads are supposed to go for each GPU model.

"additional thermal pads between the backplate and the PCB and between the baseplate and the heatsink fins"
...is a pretty vague statement.

i expect a bit more here than just some thermal gunk in a plastic bag.

Have the same issue.  Is there any word about the black edition?  Does the lack of backplate mean this isn't an issue to begin with?

Evga should provide a very detailed instructions on how to apply the thermal pads from A to Z, even if they can make a tutorial video, it will be better as not everyone can do this process by himself to avoid any wrong installation.

For the moment no one can give you an answer because neither evga give us something. We all wait EVGA for a detailed tutorial.

You should always upload your receipt when you register. It doesn't matter what the situation is, it needs to be uploaded to complete the registration process.

I second every single word (in that exact order, too) from this posting.

Maybe when you read the fine print you'll catch on about the power link.................
