If you guys are referring to me, when you say, "just some guy", or, "just a clan/individual", well believe it or not the policies I've had in my servers had similarities to those of EVGA, such as no racism, no homophobia, no hate speech, no politics, etc.

In the servers I had run, I installed Metabans and saw it fit to subscribe/follow BizSar's account.

Yes! BizSar does have a Metabans account!! :)

This meant that whoever BizSar banned in EVGA servers, those bans took effect in mine as well!

Hi, nope, I wasn't referring to you. Just servers in general. :)

Yup, I've had a Metabans account now for many, many years and used it for EVGA when I came on board with them a few years ago. We eventually setup EVGA with their own account and the servers are tied to it to avoid confusion. I subscribed to and from it as well so that my built up followers should have propagation from EVGA and vice versa, although I'm personally not sending a feed at this time.
Thanks for the follow! :)

I just wish people would focus on using in-game chat, etc. for the GAME, not their own agendas or vindictiveness on EVGA servers. It would make things so much easier, FUN, and more pleasant for everyone involved.

Yes, there was a language enforcement plug-in we added. We knew full well what that entailed going into it. Not the first rodeo by far for a few of us. There is almost constant tweaking, etc., but it is worth it when you want to maintain a certain decorum 24/7 (remember: corporate entity) when admins aren't necessarily available. We all know the game is rated 'M' and what that means. It doesn't matter in this case. You have a company that provides game servers, VOIP, admins that are fellow gamers, and even decent prizes coupled with fun events. It's a small thing to ask that the chat be kept at a PG/civil level focused on the game, and any feedback from players be constructive and civil. There are many entities (other corporations, LAN parties, clans, etc.) that rent servers for gamers that wish to insure players have a great time, while observing some rules about swearing, racism, etc. It is far from rare, as Pitfighter illustrates.

Yes *GASP* admins are human and make mistakes. If you are punished in any way (even by mistake) you can appeal it by sending an e-mail to EGC@EVGA.com. It happens. If it's a mistake, we'll fix it. Nothing is achieved without failure or mistakes. No need to read any further into it than that. No need to do any more than that. We're not out to "get" anyone. We're not out to "flex" our admin "muscle" EVER. ALL of the admins are focused on making sure everyone has a good time while insuring everyone follows the relatively few rules EVGA sets for all of us. ALL of the game admins (including myself), with Christian and a few other EVGA folks being the exception, are volunteers.

I think it's time we turn a corner, recognize what the admins are trying to do, who/what they are, the time they put in, and focus on having a good time playing a game we all love together. The past is in the past. Let's learn and grow from our experiences, and move forward as fellow gamers, growing the EGC community in the process.

i don't know if the same rule applies to evga official discord server or not. If it does, violence is screwed.

Yes, we have the same rules for our Discord server

Very good thread.

And you good sir are part of the reason for it. I miss so much gaming with you, beamer, rick and so many others. Those were the days

Thank you. Feeling is mutual. I have enjoyed last get together that was organized for our late friend Todd by you and the others. That was very nice. I much appreciate your effort.

Time is not my friend these days. I have baby on the way and I am busy with work. Winter is coming so maybe I will have more time to dedicate to gaming before newborn arrives. I have managed to play maybe 2 hours of BF1 since release just to get feel for it.

Now, when it comes to administrating servers. I have been EGC admin since BC2 days and until recently. IMO having too many rules drives people away or causes unnecessary drama. Having unexperienced admins will do the same thing. However when administrating server one should also use common sense when applying rules. Sinned, Bio and X-Ray do the good job of it.

EGC = EVGA Gaming Community last time I checked. Thank you EVGA for your support in renting server space for us gamers. You do more for this community then most other companies.

However, in the years past we were left alone to administer servers and community grew quite a bit in one year. Same players gathered on the servers and voice chat night after night and it was quite enjoyable to play with you all. Occasional hackers, spammers, bigots, etc… were dealt with quickly and nothing would get out of control. Our input as EGC admins was always taken seriously in regards to rules (which there was not many), server positions across US and new gamers being accepted as admins. Something changed……….. When we go to play we want to feel free and not feel like we have corporate/congressional oversight on top of us. We get that at work all day long. This goes for both admins and players. Trying to enforce every rule and trying to make everyone happy will never work. Such things cannot be accomplished. Sometimes decisions have to be made depending on the mood of the server in that particular time. Admins should assess situation on the server before making any decisions. What I am trying to say is, we had good time and everything else took care of itself.

Just my $0.00000002……. Maybe I am wrong.

See you on the Battlefield….

EVGA renting game servers as a big well known company also is held under a different standard than just some guy.

Servers have been becoming better over the years not worse in my view.

What changes in the past 2 years made things better in your opinion?

EVGA contributing to have the servers up and running is one thing, being a Video Card company and all.

And the ones "administrating" the servers are another. Let's not forget that. *No*, I am not insinuating anything with that statement other than EVGA allows certain people to administer and oversee the game. Again, it's another topic that has nothing to do with EVGA running the servers, to an extent. We all know that.

BF1 related: What I suggest (and propose) is actually letting your gaming community vote on who to allow being the administrator(s) for a certain time frame (say 6 months) and if they're doing good work, let the community vote again on that person. This will allow you (EVGA) to see if the community is content and happy with how things are going within BF1. Whoever gets the win(s) becomes admin.

What do you (EVGA) have to lose other than having your gaming community remain happy?

BizSar, I am glad to follow! :)

As for admin humanly mistakes, I've made my share and seen admins in my old servers do noob admin decisions of their own. We even had admins bickering over how and when rules need to be enforced.

I had PBBANS and GGC networked into the servers to ban hackers, and this too was a source of drama, as some of my former admins felt that we were too fixated on catching cheats. It didn't matter that I had a server that was populated around the clock, catching cheats automatically was too much for them!

So, as I can attest, EVGA's server related drama afflicts other gaming organizations also.

Anyway,I have started to help seed your BF4 NJ server, which I guess is where the action is? Or is it the LA server?

My playername is Pitbruiser and I tend to go AFK for hours when seeding.

For the game nights this week I believe we are going to try to get going on the LA server.

That is how the EGC was started. We got sick of how things were being managed. We had a meeting with Joe Darwin, Jacob and Agent Tiny on evga old chat to create EGC. Do i think that's possible again, doubt it.

If veterans of EGC want things to be like old times, i think it would need to be on voice and game servers not controlled by evga. I know some of us like to talk about all kinds of things on voice chat, link to stuff to each other and say few bad words once in awhile when we die in-game. We shouldn't have to walk on eggshells to have fun and play together.

You would be breaking evga rules, not allowed to AFK on the servers.
