Hello,

I've just received my new 1080 FTW Hybrid from amazon.com
My system was fully functioning before, I was using the onboard graphics, everything is UEFI compliant and CSM was disabled, fastboot and secure boot enabled.
Now I plugged in the 1080, it wouldn't boot, I pulled out the battery to reset the BIOS, then I was able to access the BIOS settings, HOWEVER, whenever I disable the Compatibility Support Module (CSM) the system does not boot, red light appears and it beeps.

The card is new, I've just received it, I thought it has a UEFI BIOS... help me get it up and running.

My Mobo is Asus Z97-A
CPU i7 4790k
Corsair semi modular 750w PSU
I have the latest BIOS update for my motherboard, and did not change any other setting

can't boot when CSM is disabled. red light. beeps. no display at all. doesn't show anything on screen.

Same thing with the slave/secondary BIOS

EDIT: fixed CSM issues, see post 2564285  http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2564285

EDIT2: disabled/enabled some SATA ports and now another issue, see post 2564298 http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2564298

Update: I don't seem like the only one facing this issue, check http://forums.evga.com/1080-FTW-non-CSM-boot-m2559407.aspx
Current situation: Unable to view boot sequence, no display until windows is loaded, meaning that I am unable to access safe mode, advanced startup options, and the motherboard's UEFI BIOS settings unless I pull out the CMOS battery which enables CSM, which loads/emulates a legacy BIOS then the card shows display during boot / but I must use UEFI, disable CSM as my SSD is UEFI only.

You have video set to pci-e in the bios and not the built in? Can't think of the name now as its early.

Card is fully seated and not crooked? Sometimes when you screw the card down it pulls it out of the slot crooked.

Monitor cable plugged into the back of the 1080 and not the built in port on the motherboard?

Sometimes the signal "hand shake" isint reaching the monitor to turn it on. Have you tried unplugging the monitor cable from the card and plugging it back in for the screen to turn on? Power off and on the monitor?

Does it seem like the pc is booting but just no picture will come up? Access led working and flashing?

The card is installed correctly, When the CSM is ON, I am able to access the UEFI bios settings, which shows that the card is running at PCIe x16 link.

However, when I change the CSM to AUTO or OFF, the PC does NOT boot at all, all it does is beeps. The display is black, and the VGA_LED is on.

Ok so with CSM on you can't get it to boot since it does make it into the bios?

With CSM set to:

ON:
PC boots to the UEFI BIOS, the card is detected and displays the UEFI BIOS settings on the monitor connected to the card.
My PCIe M.2 SSD wont boot, as windows is installed using UEFI with SecureBoot, and I believe that the SSD does not support legacy boot.

OFF or AUTO:
PC wont boot, beeps on start up, and VGA_LED stays lit.
With the 1080 not installed, the system functions just fine. It boots and does not beep at all.

In your motherboard manual at page 2-50 to 2-51 it talks about the cms settings. Your answer is prob there cause there's different options that come up with it enabled.

I've tried various settings.
Even at AUTO, it does not POST. I have no reason to enable it as all of my components should support UEFI.
Furthermore, I need CSM to be set to OFF, in order to utilise my PCIe M.2 SSD, which contains my UEFI Windows installation.

Enabling CSM causes all sorts of slowness during the initialisation of my components, especially while my hard drives are in RAID mode, and my PCIe SSD displaying diagnostics information.  All in all, it is not bootable in that mode.

Wish I could copen and paste the text on the phone from the manual .pdf file but I cant.

There's a drop down menu that comes up with different options for booting with or without that UEFI.

Also the manual may be updated online, so newer then the printed manual that came with the box.

My brother's evga 970SC boots just fine in my system with CSM DISABLED. Why would I need CSM for my newer card!

I didn't have any issues getting any of the 12 1080s to boot either in my asus maximus hero II Z97 motherboard but.. I wasn't using the m.2 card slot since I've heard of plenty of issues with it and it's not full x4 speed I believe. Moved on to the z170 chipset and no issues using a m.2 ssd and 1080 sli.

Sure someone will ask so did you upgrade the bios to the newest and load defaults?
