Comparing current gen with the previous one, it has some improvements. First of all, the fan speed. Fans could get around
5k RPM (or more, I can't actually remember exactly) at full speed on my 970FTW. I guess I'd have to be deaf to let it run with fans set like this :D Max I could stand was about 50% which I paired up with max temp through fan curve setting. Was reaching up to 80*C without getting the 1500MHz overclock many people bragged about on the internet. Right now on the 1070FTW? I've set the curve to keep fans at 20% speed (can't go lower on slave bios - and it's really quiet anyways so I don't mind) up to 50*C, then max 60% speed at 70*C (moderate volume) up to 100% at 100*C. Power target is set to 122%, added 143MHz manual overclock to the core, voltage is unlocked. Results? Max temp I observed so far was 71*C. Without a jet-like fans noise (I am pretty allergic to any noise comming from my PC, seriously - especially it sits on my desk, like 70cm away from my ears). I just love how ACX behaves.
