Hah Quad G34's, yeah @ 2CPU.com we have a few members with those, if you seek any help or advice, feel free to join 2CPU.com and ask
AXm 77, Peter Tong, SadTropher & terminalrecluse as they are our Quad G34 members
The setup
Peter Tong is using is the following:
SuperMicro H8QGi-F
4x 12 Core AMD Opteron 6100 Engineering Sample CPU's @ 2.1Ghz OC"ed currently all 48 Cores OC'ed to 3.3Ghz Stable
32GB (16 x 2GB G.Skill @ 4x Quad Channel DDR3-1600)
Noctua NH-U9DO A3 cpu coolers
SuperMicro SC748S R1000B case
2x SuperMicro PWS-1K41P-1R 1400W 1U Gold Level PWS W/ PM BUS & WX3
Addonics AD4SAHMSA mSata SATA3 controller w/Samsung 840 EVOs
EVGA GeForce GTX 760
Microsoft Windows Server 2008R2 x64 Enterprise Edition
You should of gone for 4x Opteron 6100 ES CPU's these OC easily to around 2.8 Ghz a 3.3Ghz if done correctly and these will outclass most Opteron 6200 Series 16 core CPU's.
If you want good performing 16 Core CPU's it may have been a better investment for 4x 16 Core AMD Opteron 6378's instead.
I myself run a Dual G34 setup with Supermicro's top of the range Dual Socket G34 Motherboard the Supermicro H8DG6-F and since 2014 I been using this motherboard, it's rock solid and gives you very good all round performance in any sorts of workloads, the R9 290X is my GPU, when using Vulkan API, all my 24 Cores of my two 12 Core AMD OpteronMP 6180 SE D1's all work to a workload of 60 top 70% + all 2816 GCN 1.1 cres of the 290X , and DOOM 2016 ( DOOM 4) gets in Ultra settings @ 1920 x 1200 x32 + FSAA x8 Super Sampled + AF x16 a good 137 fps average & @ 2560x 1600 with AMD VSR around 124 fps.
Do keep in mind my GPU is from Q3 2013 and my CPU's are from 2011

So hey so long SMP is well supported which it is with AMD Mantle & AMD Vulkan API's, you are all set, DX12 & OpenGL 4.5 do support SMP< but not as good as Mantle & Vulkan do for that part.
So imagine doing this with your 48 to 64 core system each and every core will be used, this way you destroy every Core i7 out there, like using TITAN X Pascals or Radeon Pro Duo's in such a setup, then things will really start to bloom at 8K Reso's.
Anyways Keep me updated on this beauty, my advice would be to use 2x Supermicro 1400 Watt Redundant PSU's for this system, I am very familiar with this case btw.
Here Peter Tong's system, there may be some handy tips in this G34 thread I run @ 2CPU.com as well
http://forums.2cpu.com/sh...hp?t=97747&page=13 Lots of good stuff in there.
As the PSU's go you can grab them here:
