Hello everyone
I'm leading technician in an Hardware seller company in France

I get recently my new 1080 from EVGA. No problem at all; I'm currently on a Rampage III Extreme, works fine!

I bought the New monster from Asus, Rampage Edition 10 with a 6850K, just insane in fact ;)
BUT (there is a "but" a this price) I use to test the RE10 with an old 750ti; no problem, W10 64 installed perfectly, no CSM, full UEFI, and secure boot on.
When I plug the 1080, VGA LED is up, and Windows come after a 15sec Black screen (nothing before it, Bios, POSt, Nothing) Under Windows, no problem, performances are good but VGA LED of RE10 still on.
After flashing mobo BIOS, and turn somethings on and off, I get back Post, Bios and windows without Blackscreen and VGA Led. CSM Disable is the solution, after more test.

Ok so now I get a nice boot, no "bad" led on, or anything this anoying.

My question: Why my brand new 1080 isnt accepted without CSM, instead of my old and basic 750ti?
Thanks in advance

Florent

The Compatibility Support Module (CSM) is a component of the UEFI firmware that provides legacy BIOS compatibility by emulating a BIOS environment, allowing legacy operating systems and some option ROMs that do not support UEFI to still be used.

As quick as possible: That's a compatibility system for Non-UEFI operating system and componements, for boot sequence, under UEFI mobo...

I have CSM turned off on my R5E10 and SLI GTX 1080 FTW and no issues booting....

I can further elaborate as well:

CSM on it boots and shows the splash logo for Windows, and the R5E10 boot logo.
CSM off it boots and shows the splash logo for Windows, and the R5E10 boot logo.

I am using Displayport

Yeah, I elaborated on both behaviors, which are in fact the same :)

Try enabling csm & setting your pci-e lanes from auto to gen3 to see if it helps resolve the issue.
