So which one is the better sweet spot for Folding? In terms of overall performance per dollar? Does 1080p gaming or 1440p gaming change anything for those who aren't folding only focused?

the 6GB are worse because of the price. you pay $50 more, 25% more, for a handful more cuda cores and more ram. you only loose about 10% in F@H performance so its performance per dollar is higher.

Thanks for that bit of info, when the time is right I'll be getting one!!!!

As for the resolution question @1080p the gtx 1070 can play everything max settings. @1440p the gtx 1070 may struggle a bit to max everthing on some AAA titles. The gtx 1080 just about do 4k but you really need a titian xp for that.

Here's a good thread with some folding performance specs.  (the gaming performance hasn't been bad for me either, though I stick to just a few titles)

the 980ti folds just slightly better than a 1070 on avg, about 75-100K under the 1080

So for the price of a 1080 a guy can get 2 980ti on b stock and be ahead in folding .Nut as for the power bill the 1070s mite be the way to go . My EVGA bucks are calling me to order something . And no better time then the time TZC .

bcavnaugh they make 980ti HYBRIDs to so was wondering

You can get a new one for $340 EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti P/N: 06G-P4-3998-K1 This is on EVGA's Website

EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti CLASSIFIED GAMING REF ACX 2.0+ $390

Ohh man 340 for a second 980 ti.....it's like half what I paid a year ago.....the office needs to come off my bonus checks quick.

Edit: 330 for a matching sc+ 276 after cashing in my stash of bucks......

I have signed up. I do not have the main PC running in this event, at this time. I may turn it on depending on where I am an how cold it is. If I do turn it on, I would look around the 1.5m ppd range, rather than 600k.

Still haven't signed up, figuring out an average but my numbers are off since I'm still messing around with the set up. Going to swap cases soon too. I still have time though, I'll be the last in 🤘

  • Thanks to incredibly generous donations by Mekhed, AzN-SoLjA, xshurikx, c6vette, species, robbysites and Shifttfreeride we have a fourth 10xx GPU to give away, an EVGA GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0.  Also, we are more than halfway to adding another card!

Great news! The idea of adding the GPU prize pool was such a great idea. This will add a lot to the fun during the prize distributions.. and hopefully some significant points for team EVGA later on!
