Don't want to instill fear but for some there black screens didn't happen for awhile. Some 2 weeks some over a month later. So it can be something that wears down over time possibly. Though evga will have you covered if it happends but with the hassle of sending it back on your dime if after 30 days and getting a refurbished card in return.

Also would be best to test ea card separately to check for the black screen.

Witcher 3 currently don't use sli either.. it did before the last update I've read. I've heard there's ways to make your own custom Nvidia sli profile for ea game to get them to work but I've never needed to do that for my games in the many years I've been using sli.

hmnn...okay. at this point i need to push my cards to run 80+ fps or it was pointless for me to buy dual graphic cards :( i will look into jays2cents vids after work today. btw what does he mean when he mentions PASCALS ? :/

His monitor is 3440X1440 which is 4,953,600 pixels.  You are running 3840X2160 which is 8,294,400 pixels.  You are running 1.67 times more pixels.  The easy answer is to move away from a 4K monitor to get those frame rates.

ahh... i see. i'll look into it when i get home :) THANK YOU!

You are limited to 60 FPS being displayed anyway.  You just need to see 60 FPS stable and you can do that in many games.  We are supposed to see higher refresh rate 4K monitors next year, but then you will need the new video cards that will be out!

The 10x0 series cards are Pascal.  The 9x0 series cards were called Maxwell.  The next generation (11x0?) is Volta.  They all have a generational name.

Believe me you want sli for 4k. Single card ain't gona happen.

A single 1080/Titan xp isint going to get 60 FPS in today's games in 4k.

oh crap! more newer gens of video cards being released next year? what are the model expiry (if that makes any sense) on video cards. like how long can  i keep my cards for until it feels outdated and such?

I've also noticed an overclocking thread in this forums...will it be okay to copy their tweaks and work around it? i'm thinking of installing heaven benchmark for testing....

Just takes time.  Some of it on your part and some of it for developers that rush out games to get things tweaked and fixed and finally for NVIDIA to clean up small messes.

You run cards until you aren't happy with their performance anymore (and can afford new ones).  There will always be something 'better' right around the corner.  This is a very expensive habit if you let it be.

Yeah like every year they release faster cards it seems. It's the norm. Only upgrade when you move up to higher screen res or newer games bring you current card to its knees.

Currently people feel there isint a single 4k 60hz card out there yet.. that's why the need for sli and g-sync monitors to smooth out the frame rate. Also why I'm holding off 4k for a lot longer till theres 100+ 4k monitors and hardware to run that.

Honestly i could go 4k now with 1080 sli but no money or desire to go back to 60hz monitors.

I've always been about the most frame rate one can get and that's at 2560x1440. Could go with a ultra wide 1440 monitor but I'll wait for more games to use that res. Though an ultra wide would be nice for someone that needs the large wide desk space. Prob be great for rendering.

Also don't try cut and paste what other are doing for overclocking! Every chip is different and overclocking on sli means your clocks will be limited with the weaker card.

Most important thing is to get the fan curve up from default to cool that top card better.

These pascal cards use boost 3.0 and will boost on loads (free auto oveclocking) and lower when 3 things are met. Voltage limit, power limit and temp limit. Your big one right now is temp.

At 52c it will lower then again at 62c and 70 and so forth to keep it stable.

People want 2000-2100mhz..

Every chip is different and every room and case have different temperatures to deal with.
