The backlog of 1080's, especially from EVGA is insane! Seems half the world wants EVGA because of the support reputation. Best I can tell, they are shipping SC's to fulfill 5/28. I stepped up on 5/29 and decided three weeks ago to go with the ACX 3.0 reference model. Was put right in the front of the queue. Requested to reference on 9/1. Sent my old card back on 9/2. EVGA received it on 9/6 (Tues) because of holiday on Mon. I received my new 1080 ACX 3.0 on Friday (9/9), since I had paid for overnight delivery. It can be that quick for you as well. It is just my thought. EVGA has never really put the 1080 ACX 3.0 up for sale on the website. I think they are holding back the entire model for fulfillment of Step Ups. My original step up was to the 6181 model. They upgraded me to the 6183. However, the line for SC is moving slowly (but it is moving). For me, the backtrack to 6181 worked out better than I could have imagined. I am not an insane overclocker by any means, but I can tell you that my reference model can hold an overclock of +250 core (1857)...turbos to 2140 and memory at +250. I don't run it like that all the time, because the base clock of my card boosts to 1911 without overclocking. I just set the temp limit to 90C and the card holds the turbo speed 50% of the time while it drops to 1883 the other half of the time. I think the reference models have a huge amount of play in them.
Other thought...when I backtracked to the 6181 on 9/1...they just started fulfilling the 5/27 SC orders that were stepped up on the day of release. For about an hour after release, the SC was one of the choices for step up (normally never are...but they were there)....and so on. If they are on 5/28 and it is Sept 26th...I imagine that 5/30 may be three weeks away...again..."My estimate". Don't hold EVGA either way to my estimates...I am just judging on how fast things have been going.
Do I regret backtracking to the 6181? NO!
Think on it...
So you don't think I am fabricating. Here is my card set to +225 core and +200 memory
