I searched the foruns but didn't find an answer to this:
Do EVGA GTX 1060 cards work in motheboards with only Legacy BIOS (non UEFI)?
Did anyone tried this?
 
I heard that some RX 480 cards only work with UEFI BIOS motherboards (and Sapphire website also says so).
 
I intend to upgrade my HD 5750 inside a old computer. I know the GPU will be bottlenecked by the CPU, but some time next year I'll replace everything and move the new GPU.

It may/may not work. For best compatibility buy a motherboard that uses uefi.

I would also like to know because I am not too keen on updating my processor + motherboard. Maybe someone can share their experience with us.

I saw some videos on Youtube with reviewers testing RX480/GTX 1060 with 6 years-old motherboards (not sure if the MBs had UEFI but the processors were contemporary to mine). Other than lower framerates compared with modern processors, everything ran fine.
In the HP forums (like my system), the GTX 9xx series are a hit-and-miss... For some people everything works fine, for others doesn't boot.
I'll probably wait a little more until more experiences, or until I buy a new system.

If you gave us your specific motherboard model, we might be able to give a more informed answer. An OEM board like from Dell, is less likely to work than say a board from ASUS or MSI or EVGA. I'm running a 980ti on an 'ancient' X58 board along with a GTX TITAN for PhysX without issue. Basically, what I'm getting at here is that it isn't so much a UEFI issue as it is whether or not the BIOS on the board will recognize and support the hardware as GPU's still have legacy boot BIOS capability.

Chipset is Intel H57 Express.
Power supply (upgraded from the original) is a Corsair CS450M.

Okay....some quick searching around HP, found some folks using your system motherboard being unable to boot with a GTX 970 and some who could using the latest BIOS update. So, I guess the answer is maybe. Not exactly helpful, but it is not a widely used combination.

Lots of people have used 970's in that board without problems. I'd say the 1060 should work just fine in it.
