Update:
Got an update from EVGA about the whole "re-certified" card thing I and other have experienced:

I apologize for the confusion. We only replace the cards with brand new ones if they were purchased within 30 days. Since the RMA request was out of that 30 day period, we replaced it with a re-certified card that was tested for the black screen issue as well as any other issues. You will not be getting the same black screen issue with 100% fans as before. Any cards that are shipped out from our EU RMA department after 8/31/16 will not have this issue.

I fell a little bit better now that I know this was suppose to happen and that it has been tested by EVGA.Though I'm not convinced about the "Any cards that are shipped out from our EU RMA department after 8/31/16"  As I received my 2nd rma from EVGA on the 9th of September and that still had the black screen issue.

I'll test the card out later tonight and see if it black screens, if it does I'll send it back to Amazon.

@J0NOX- I received the same packaging as you only my card was sealed in the usual anti-static bag. It had all of the clear plastic wrap over the entire card like a new one would plus all manuals and power cables were included in the box. I have no idea what to make of this whole thing and whether to keep the latest card. I hate the silence regarding the issue. But there's no better alternative out there, for me. I don't want to add more case fans if I get a Classified / Strix instead. MSI Seahawk I don't want to connect radiator fan to motherboard header. Gigabyte I just don't want to deal with in case an issue arises. I'm trying to just keep it simple and tell myself if there's no problem with the card and it plays games, keep it.

Well, at least yours came with the clear plastic wrap and such...I just got the 1080 ftw card placed in bubble wrap, didn't even have a dust proof rubber strip over the PCI area, nor even any protective covers over/in the HDMI/Display ports...it even had a finger print mark next to the EVGA 1080 logo on the side of the card. Looks like mine came straight out of someones computer.
If mine came like yours with the manuals and power cables, I wouldn't mind using it but I feel uncomfortable using this one. Not a grate feeling when you spend £££ on a graphics card.

If you aren't having any problems with your card I would just keep it. I'm planning on getting the MSI gaming X if I don't get a satisfactory response from Evga.

Mine just got picked up by UPS, I took care of the packaging (I think). I put the rubber cover back on each port and put the card in an anti-static bag. I hope I will receive the new one with at least this kind of protection. I want my rubber covers back!

just got my Replacement 1080 Ftw yesterday... it had fingerprints on it. The was heat shrink wrapped. And the card was in a anti-static bag. I was told over the phone that it would be a brand new one.. I don't think so.. it also came in a Flimsy black and brown box that has an EVGA logo. May be a refurbished one.. not HAppyy. Jacob if you see this.. help me out please..

Guys, I do really really feel for you . If you could start a  Facebook group or a  petition, EVGA  would be  forced to react  more swiftly to this issue.

For me over the phone, they said i will get a brand new one.. they did not specify i would be getting a refurb. And also it had finger prints on the top heat plate and side logo. luckily there was still tape on the side. But still. not cool. Still trying to get a hold of them..

Decided to RMA my hybrid card for a refund and will eat the re-stocking fee. Not worth it. I wonder if my card was refurbished as well, my packaging was identical to how you describe yours, absent the fingerprint. Also my temps were much warmer than the original faulty card I got. While gaming with a custom fan curve my temps were mid 50's. I think there's no point in getting a Hybrid at all if these "revised" cards run hotter. And the fact that ACX style non-FTW cards only run about 15 degrees warmer while gaming from what I've seen, are much quieter, and have no tech issues.

Support has gone from good to bad in the last couple of days. I am wondering if they are having more trouble than they can handle. I got a mail from UPS pretty early today so atleast i know they have received both the original defect card and the defect RMA card.

I am getting a bad feeling reading the other replies in this thread. Since i got a New sales package on the first RMA i sent both Boxes back With UPS, not that it really matters. this thing has taken more than my 30 days to deliver the card back to where i bought i anyway.

The thing that still bugs me alot is that i paid collateral for the Advanced RMA. And they mess up and send a defective card. And then they create a standard RMA without sending me a New card. So after i sent both Cards back im out €750+€750(collateral) AND i have no Cards.  I would atleast they could cross ship, but no such luck. I mean, in no way is this Whole thing my fault. I just wanted to support EVGA as i was real happy With my two 780SC. And it feels like support is only handing out sorry`s and  forwarding my wishes to RMA Department. Who has not once sent me a mail or given me a answer through the person i have been talking to on email.

The frustration is growing. :p

I can get the EVGA GTX 1080 Classified for the same price as the GTX 1080 FTW, good deal ? Is it a different PCB than FTW ? With no issues ?
