I feel quite anxious about the new RMA card, the serial number is 1612536286802389 which is prior fromer card 1612536286802508 having the black screen + 100% fan issue. It was said that a hardware fix was put in place after the 30th of August (in your official forum) and I get a fully sealed card from prior that date.

How can I make sure that the new card is bullet proof ?

Plenty of suggestions in this thread I would think ?

BTW my faulty cards are 16125xxxx aswell. replacement will be 16129xxxx

Yes and no, I'm still waiting for a systematic approach. With the old one, I could run Heaven or 3D mark benchmark in loop without issue for 2 hours but just playing COD BOIII online for 2 hours was leading to this famous crash (black screen + 100% fan).
With the new card, I read that the witcher III was a critical application therefore I played it for 1h30, is it enough to say it is ok ? I'll try to play 2 hrs of COD BOIII this W-E...
I believe that I have reasons to be anxious looking at the serial number and other comments from guy getting "bad" RMAs (specially in Europe).

Thanks

I'm wondering the same. The RMA'd card I received was 1610xxxxx and the original was 1612xxxxx. I called support and was told that the serial number was not indicative of anything. I asked if this card was "old, new stock" and was informed that a number of cards are pulled and set aside for RMA purposes. So my question is, are these cards really tested prior to shipping? From the conversation I had with the tech it sure doesn't seem like it. He told me to wait and see if the issue occurs again and if it does to call back.

I haven't gotten around to doing the ATS + K200 yet, but since it crashed 4x in a row immediately when I 'bought the truck' it might be a sure thing to test with. New cards will arrive today, I will repeat forementioned tonight, tomorrow at the latest and see what happens.

This is a little worrying, my replacement has been fine for 7 days but as above, my original card was a 16125xxxxx and the replacement is a 1610xxxxx, hopefully as support said the serial numbers aren't indicative of when they were produced.

Who knows at this stage? although their customer support has been great, really at this stage some kind of official acknowledgement giving information to ease peoples minds is needed. It's getting tiresome when playing games or benching having this creeping feeling that it's going to fail at any moment.

What bothers me is the number of times my questions were met with silence. A number of times I had to ask if the tech was still there. My question is if the serial isn't indicative of release date are there lot #'s? How is qc tracked?

My old serial number ended in 1885
The RMA replacement ends in 2387 and it crashed after about an hour on Witcher 3 :(

so no, I don't think the serial number is indicative of anything

We need a clear statement from EVGA, If I have a problem with my car or whatever, I always know which part has been changed or modified.
Another point, if you look at Samsung and the note 7 story, they mark the new boxes clearly with a new "S" color on the boxes to make sure that bad product are identified.

The customer has the right to know what's wrong with his product.

When I see many RMA cards behaving the same (meaning crashing), I have serious doubts about the understanding on this issue.
If serial 2387 is crashing , what about mine (new RMA) ending with 2389...

I know the whole rma process, waiting for your card in the mail and having to wait sucks, but the main thing is we are covered. I don't care when my new card fails or if it does, I know that there is a warranty and I am not out 717$. EVGA is good on that end. We'll see how many cards fail. It sucks though. I want my system to be rock stable. Not swapping out cards all the time. Hopefully they find what is wrong. If the new cards they are sending out in replacement are failing, then whats the point? Has the problem been fixed yet?

What a mess! Apparently EVGA made a bad decision on how to handle this black screen issue. Time to correct?
