Well, it looks like I spoke too soon. My RMA card tested okay for about a day then just now playing Gears of War the same problem happen again. Black screen, fan spins up to 100%. Is it possible to get a refund? I don't want to keep playing the RMA game.

For reference, I had a Titan X Pascal for two weeks before returning it. That card had zero issues.

This is a rma'ed card after August 31st??

Yep.

Not good.. I'm again testing both cards. One last final test of the good card it seems as I don't think it's happend to this one. I've had the black screen atleast 2 times and it was prob while testing rhe other card the first time around.

Anyways.. I'm gona be testing that one tonight once I swap these ftw hybrids.

So i just tested with Witcher 3 on my replacement FTW from Amazon, and within 10 mins , I get crash to black screen with 100% fans. Happened twice in two attempts. Happens both at stock speeds as well as slight OC. At this point, I'm seriously considering just returning this for good to Amazon.

I may be having this same problem in GTA 5. EVGA why?? This is very disappointing!!! Making lose faith in you guys. I think I would much rather try a different vendor than go through this headache. It seems maybe we should get free upgrades to classified vesrions if they are not having the issue. I was able to not have to hard reboot, somehow the nvidia driver disappeared buy pressing  multiple keys on keyboard. I then rebooted my pc. I'm POd actually!!

I do not really want to RMA to EVGA, I would rather RMA back to newegg and just get a different brand. You guys should havve stopped all sales of these cards and issued recalls. Can I still RMA to newegg if I registered the card? Or how about a free stepup to the classified?

That's exactly what I did.  After my first bad card if I would have just exchanged it or RMA'd made it I would have been on my third bad card right now. Instead I just got a MSI card and I'm thrilled with it. Not only is it overclockable to the same speeds as the FTW but it runs much much cooler. I never seen the card  go over 75 C no matter what I overclock it to or throw a it.

I would do this without hesitation but am in a bit of a sticky situation as my case is the SG13 and I only have about 10.5 inches GPU length to play with. EVGA seems to be the only one serving this form factor with (in theory) strong open air cards. I really don't want to go with blower style due to noise, but am seriously considering going with a founder's 1080 or Titan XP now. This is highly unfortunate.

I would definitely call newegg. I got a defective EVGA FTW card and newegg was nice enough to give me store credit. So thankfully I didn't get another EVGA FTW or I would have had to return it again. But instead I got an MSI card that performs perfectly.

Yup as expected. My first card of 2 hybrids is the one that's doing the black screens. I've been testing ea card some as I've been in a long process of backing up the system to prepare for the full upgrade of the pc.. been like a 2 month process of back and forth changing my mind on this and that.

Finally when I thought I had it all figured out on what I was going to finalize it now I'm back to the main issue with the graphics card! What to do..

Anyways, I managed to do 2 full stress tests of firestrike extreme on the first card and no problems. Runing an overclock slightly below 2088.. like 2064mhz it settled at and +420 on the mem.

Then cause lots of people were stating it can happen pretty quick on Witcher 3 I loaded it up.. played for prob over 20-30 mins and bam!! Hit the reset and the screen stayed black and fan noise keep going mean while it looked like Windows was rebooting cause I could see the hdd access led doing its thing. So I had to turn it off fully to fix it.

Next boot was odd. It was all really leggy. Windows file Explorer took forever to load whatever folder I was trying to open. Menus did not work. A reboot did not fix it.

I remember the same issue when I installed the windows anniversary update the other night. Was all laggy and Explorer and memusic when you would launch a program would not work. Was fine once I installed the newest Nvidia drivers..

Later on tonight I discovered that I needed to lower the screen res down from 1440. Once I did that I could read the menus and no more lag. So that's strange?? Vram issue with the card?

I wish I would of tested Witcher 3 with the 2nd card that I think is fine.

I'd go grab 2 classified card real quick if I thought they would run fine together. I believe the first one will cook at like 70-82 just like the 2 zotac 1080 amp! Edition cards. Fe blower card worked fine together with 1 slot spacing as long as you can handle the loud fans.

Mind you my kids are away for the weekend and I was supposed to upgrade the rig finally starting yesterday!

Going with:

Asus maximus hero VII alpha
I7 6700k water cooled
16gb g.skill 3600 15,15,15 ddr4
Samsung 950 pro m.2 512gb ssd
Samsung evo 500gb ssd for most games
Evga 1080 ftw hybrid sli

Updating the water cooling as well from a custom loop with a 240 rad to a ek 360 rad and pump/res combo and new ek cpu block with push pull fans.

And build my son his own rig out of my current rig with my 980 sli and 4790k. Finally play together online!

It is disappointing if the RMAed card crashes again. It contradicts to what the forum tech talked about.

I think I should contact to Amazon as well just in case my RMAed card may be defective as well. Evga tw just received my card in last Friday morning through their suggested courier service (I sent the card out in Monday evening) and they didn't have time to test my card and not even ship out replacement. It is going to take a week and a half for completing this RMA process (I expect replacement card back to me in next week). All this turnaround time is slower than Amazon sending a replacement card or refund.
