They don't. They have the reference design.

3 week old build, ran through the benches (3D mark,  Unigine) fine, but is crashing on Civ 6 after about 30 minutes of play.   Black screen + fan at 100%
 
At first I though it was a CPU issue, but after the 2nd crash, it was clear it was the GPU as I could hear the music and my menu selections still going through.
 
Is RMA my only option or should i pull back my OC?
Current offset is +105 Memory +300

The issue has now gone viral on on r\buildapc so at this point EVGA is going to have to start talking.

Try debug mode and see if you can still run the game. If it runs fine within debug mode, then it's not a overheat issue, but an unstable overclock. 

I just had this happen to me last night playing WoW. I went to bed after it happened thinking that is weird. Wake up this morning still black with no input to monitors. Then google into this nightmare. :(

Debug mode fixes the black screen issue for whatever reason. Doesn't mean the card itself doesn't have a hardware fault, however.

There should be a sticky or something else for this thread; I'm curious to know where these faulty cards are continuing to be sold? People should post date, merchant, and country of purchase for their FTW cards. If you guys having problems JUST bought the card, that is messed up and EVGA should have just halted sales altogether. Others may have bought the card months ago and the problem just started to happen. It would be helpful to know when people bought their faulty cards. 

My computer will not even recognize the 1080 anymore after my only blackscreen. When I load Precision X it says no hardware is found. 
 
Also mine was bought from Newegg on September 28th

Put my Hybrid into debug mode and downclocked it with -200/-300 MHz. Played Battlefield 1 for some hours without a problem...
