Hi everyone.
I have the same issue: black screen, fan maxed out.
BUT I have a GTX1080 Founder Edition! Anyone already reported this issue on this model? Can it be the same "know issue"?

i would contact EVGA via internet Chat or by phone if you have an EVGA founders edition.

Same problem here, EVGA 1080 FTW and the watcher 3, after less than 5 minutes I got a black screen and when I restart my PC there is flickering and to solve that I have to decrease my refresh rate from 144hz to 100hz then I can increase it without any problem but when I restart my PC it happens again. Luckily I have Purchased it from amazon, I will try another one if it has the same problems I will go with ASUS or MSI. And I will avoid evga.
My GPU driver is 372.90

How I can know which factory is my card from?

I'm getting this black screen crash and reboot on both Elite Dangerous and just now Alien Isolation something I did notice was both of those game were running on a resolution of 3840 x 2160, both of the game crash within 5 minutes of playing.
Are others getting this problem running a 4K monitor, my set up should easily be able to cope with running a monitor at this resolution.
Is this part of the problem others have mention or something else entirely.

The factory doesn't seem to matter much. Just look at the last five digits. Look for something above 04500. Seems to be around there that the fixed the issue. The higher the better. Look at my post a few pages back for details on serial numbers.

Well, I can see now my card is less than 04500 it is around 03000, even thought it was from factory #8 (as someone said it is the good factory).

It was me who said that from reading comments. I hadn't seen any faults coming from factory 8. But as soon as I posted, someone said theirs was from 8 and broken. Not all are broke wither. You could have a really low one that works fine.

And just then played Alien Isolation for half an hour at 4k resolution and it was fine, first time it crashed after 5 minutes. I'm new to the problem I'm assuming it's hard to pin down what causes and when and even then it happens some time with a game and then its OK for a while and reoccurs without warning.

What do you think I should do, exchange my card for another evga gtx 1080 FTW or return it and buy from another manufacturer?

I like the look of the Evga FTW but since it doesn't work well, then there is no point to get it :(
Do you know if they have fixed the problem now?
