Heard buzzing when firing up division without vsync on only hear it if i tilt my head certain way and its just to low volume to be annoyance, never noticed it before i think probably cos its gotten a lot colder now then usually, think if heard same buzzing in the past on my gtx 480 but it never bothered me.

My 1080 FTW, I had a similar situation. I had a 550W Antec PSU and when it ramped up it was pretty loud. I opted for the 550 since I didn't feel the need to use the 1200W. Well... guess who's using the 1200W.... I swapped it in and Whine COMPLETELY gone.  Defiantly check your PSU.... in most cases people suggesting it, they aren't wrong.

You can also test it, rolling a piece of paper up to make a tube and listen various places while benchmarking so your whine is going good and strong. That's what I did, then swapped PSU without mounting everything just to be sure.

Tried listening very closely to my 1080 FTW under several different conditions (case panel off, gaming, benchmarks, idle) and don't hear any coil whine.  None at all.

I do have a very good PSU though, a SeaSonic XP2 860 watt Platinum.

But maybe I just got lucky.

I just got my 1080 FTW DT and happy to report no coil whine during any benchies or games, so far! However, I do get soft coil whine when running some of the Vulkan samples from Sascha Willems, like the ParticelFire and TextureCubemap samples. Then again, I even got coil whine with those on my old GTX 680. Nothing during normal games. I am running 1080P though and not 4K.

Here are those Vulkan samples if interested: http://vulkan.gpuinfo.org/examples.php

Hi all OP here.. i said id update and here i am.
Put the FTW in bout 5 hrs ago,ive done plenty of benchmark tests (Firestrike,Valley and Heaven Benchmark 4.0) and im very impressed.
Coil whine yes i do have it but..its very, very slight,i only have it in GPU intensive stuff benchmarks, GTA V,Witcher 3 etc ..and im only on a Corsair TX650 PSU.
Boosted to 1987Mhz without touching anything. after a slight OC +40 on the core clock and +45 on the memory clock ,and a custom fan profile it boosts to 2025 and 4050 on the mem.
I haven,t even touched the power limit. Eats games for breakfast runs everything beautifully on my U2715H Dell 2k ultrasharp. I7 4790K cpu
Anyway to cut a long story short im very very happy with this card..it oozes class. The packaging, the folder that comes with it with your bits and bobs in ..everything just looks so good.
This is my 1st EVGA card..it wont be my last, im seriously looking at upgrading my warranty already!! just to stay with this company. A few Pics of benchmarks if thats ok.

Can someone with a FTW download and run ATITool, then click the 3D button, this will push your card at high fps and see if it has louder coilwhine

Well, I've got a 1080 FTW and it started "whining" this evening. Two things happened this night though. First I bought and installed a new monitor - ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q, running at 165 Hz. I played some games after that and I don't think there was any coil whine then, but then my SeaSonic XP2 860W Platinum just died out of the blue. The PC shut down and did not show any sign of life. Luckily I still had my old Corsair CX750W (a really cheap bronze grade one), so I put the old back in and the PC powered up without a problem. However, now when I get into a game and it starts running over 80+ frames, the coil whine begins and it gets progressively worse, the worst being at 165 fps. So the cause is either running games at fps above 60 (my old monitor was 60 hz v-sync on), or the lower quality PSU, or both. Can't really tell right now. I will wait for my replacement PSU and see what happens then. The coil whine is really annoying at 165 fps though and that is sad because I want to utilize my new monitor to its full potential.

Running ATITool 3d View Cube:

Running Uniengine Valley, when there is a small pause in the whine at 6secs, it is changing scenes in the benchmark:
