No coil whine on either of my 1080 FTW's

Also stick with EVGA, their customer service is the best and by no means their cards are inferior, on the contrary fans may be the most silent of the market. As stated mine is a standard ACX 3.0 and it overclocks over 2100 MHz without a sweat :) 

my 1070sc only has coil whine at high fps
gets rather loud when overclocked for benchmarking
but at stock clocks with 60fps cap i dont hear it
may be a problem if i had a 144hz monitor

People over on the OCUK forums rave about their support.
1 last question if I may...the FTW would cost me an extra £10 over the SC model.
Would you go with the FTW model over the SC for such a little increase in price?
They both look very similar in specs.
@ Dasa 43 yep a Gsync 144mhz monitor would be next on my list possibly within a few months,but I'm sure if it was really loud over 60fps EVGA would look into it?

I replaced my gtx 1070 ftw with new one and still have coil whine on this one too. I think coil whine can be eliminated with 850+ power supplies.

Hi, not sure if you've seen my post in the forums.
I got a new Evga 1070 ftw a couple of weeks ago and get an electric buzzing sound from where the two 8 pin pcie connectors connect on the graphics card even with vsync on and coil whine even at 60fps I can hear it from 3m away with my pc case closed. It gets louder with more fps.

I'm using the Evga super nova G2 850w power supply. I was very happy when I got the card at first but after I started noticing the coil whine/ buzzing sound I wasn't so happy.
Also I have a problem where some games the framerate will go from 60 to 59 to 61 with vsync on but I guess this is an nvidia driver problem (I've just moved over from using amd graphics cards for 12 years)

I think coil whine can vary depending on which power supply you use but then I thought I brought a good one being the evga super nova g2 850w so I'm not so sure.

I'm sorry that hearing this probably doesn't help but just thought I'd share my experience, I'm trying to decide what to do about my card at the moment.

But from my notice from different forums and reddit posts evga psu under 850w + evga 1070 = coil whine. This what i noticed from specs of people experiencing coil whine. I have evga 750 p2 evga psu still got coil whine on my second 1070 ftw too.

whether a gpu has coil whine is fairly random
although some models are more prone to it that others
 
my pc overclocked uses ~250w gaming with a stupidly overkill seasonic xp 1050 i still get coil wine from my 1070 at times
it was the same with the 290
out of the two 7970 i had one with coil whine and one without
im just lucky that its not severe i have seen a lot of people rma there psu\gpu due to them being loud
sometimes the replacement still makes noise sometimes it doesn't
 
a high quality psu with good filtering may have an effect but going overkill with 850w+ wont solve it

I only have a corsair tx650 psu,I've actually tried a friends 1080 in it (different brand than EVGA) and it was silent.
I've been lucky I've used 3 different cards with this psu and every single one has been perfect.
Does anybody have a lower psu like mine and NOT have any coil whine issues?
I'm not going to replace my psu it's been perfect. I really really wanna go with this EVGA FTW 1070 card. I was actually going to pick 1 up today or definitely tomorrow
But if I'm been honest ..I've noticed more postings regarding coil whine issues on the EVGA cards than any others on different forums.

Edit:@Darkstar child,just read your original post very interesting regarding your testing with different psu,s.
Are you still within RMA range? Why not return your card mate.
I think I'm going to hold fire for a day or 2 I've no qualms RMA ing a card if it's not what I'm expecting.
I'd just rather avoid RMA ing if possible
