I was telling arokhantos that you had a new issue and you weren't saying RMA or refund over the whine, JONOX. I understood. 😉

Is this thread still alive?
I've got my 1080 FTW about 3 weeks ago, but I didn't want to stress it before I got it under water, and I only yesterday got the waterblock for it.
When I turned on the heat, the coil whine is like nothing I've heard before. It sounds like there is a hair trimmer turned on inside my PC. What do I do?

I'm running it with a Corsair AX860

I haven't had any coil whine for my 1080 FTW, in fact it seems to be the least of any card I have had in recent years. I had a good amount of whine with my MSI 780 Ti's. I do have a water block to put on this weekend, so I will see if this makes a difference.

Limiting your FPS to 60 should help lower the whine or at least cap it to your monitors refresh. But if you have a monitor that has a high refresh rate, there is not much else you can do. I am still not sure if the PSU actually affects the whine, I would imagine less ripple in power delivery would prob help lessen the noise.

I would consider my Corsair AX860 to be a premium PSU :/
And im running a 100 Hz monitor :/

Do anyone know if it possible to get a replacement card from evga even after the 14 day period?

Maybe try to get it replaced by the vendor if possible. I would call EVGA also, it can't hurt.

Update: I've switched from the Corsair PSU CX 750 back to SeaSonic XP2 860W Platinum, and the coil whine is absolutely gone. 0 coil whine even at 165 fps. So the issue was the PSU in my case for sure.

I agree that it can be multiple issues which ultimately cause coil whine, but it does seem that your PSU plays a huge factor.  I've had cards with whine before in differing degrees, but on my current build I opted for a SeaSonic 860 watt Platinum XP2 power supply, and I haven't heard a peep of coil whine out of my current 1080 FTW.  I don't think the importance of having a good solid quality PSU can be overstated.

Guys, pardon my ignorance-- Is there a trusted vid on youtube of the proper *sound* of  really bothersome *coil-whining* on GPU's? I don't think I ever had the bad-luck of purchasing a *bad* card out the gate from the few I own from EVGA over the years.

Next-week, I plan to finally purchase either a 1070 or 1080, and upgrade from my recently RMA'ed gtx 980 SC replacement.

It's often a difficult sound to pick up with a microphone, thus difficult to record and reproduce.

My GTX1070 FTW is a bit noisy.
Not real happy with the noise, but unless better quality properly potted inductors are used then it's here to stay.
The first manufacturer to do this will likely win a few customers as it is a sign of better engineering and higher quality.
