So I just got the EVGA GTX 1060 SC and I've playing with it for a while. I decided to flash the new bios...OH MY GOD, it's unusable, it reaches the 80º C at full load. Unfortunately, I'm a dumb ass and forgot to backup the stock bios (86.06.0E.00.60). Would it be possible for someone from EVGA to provide the factory BIOS for this card, please?
 
The new fan curve is waaaaay too shy.

Just set a custom fan curve using MSI AfterBurner, and get it to auto start on system startup. It's extremely lightweight and doesn't give any issues.
 
I have set it such that the card now idles at 25% fan speed (around 650RPM) for temps below 45C, and from 45C to 80C, I have the card to increase steadily from 25% to 66% (1720RPM). It's a good fan curve, the same I used with the previous card I had with an identical cooler, the EVGA GTX 960 SC.

Can you post an image of your fan curve? I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this particular bit of GPU tweaking. I've never messed with fan curves on past GPUs, but I wasn't comfortable with the temps I was getting after this bios update.

Thank you! I know it's not the worst thing in the world, but I'm not happy about having to use another program just to have a sensible fan curve. Allowing the option to idle at 0db is good, but I think EVGA needs to take another look at their current fan curve. I just don't think it's sufficient, especially for the non-SC cards.

Any update on a fix for AMD-using customers?  Seeing as the 1060 is marketed to the price-conscious gamer, I imagine you have more than a few people using AMD boards.

I just received my 1060 SC today. It had the old BIOS on it, but installing this update was really easy. Nicely done EVGA! I just recommend that you make this more readily noticeable to users because if I wasn't active in the forums recently, I wouldn't have known.

I also wouldn't mind having the old bios as an option.

I just rec'd my 1060 SC from Newegg this afternoon and they're still coming with the .60 BIOS.  I'll have to read through all of these emails and decide whether to do this tonight.  :)
 
EDIT: I did end up doing the upgrade.  IMO, the .62 0dB BIOS makes sense if your card is in a large computer box with lots of air flow.  If you have it in a small mini-ITX case with lots of parts cramped together, maybe a constantly running fan makes more sense for you.  It would be nice if EVGA would offer both online here, then you could decide.  I was surprised how fast it flashed, at first I thought it didn't work.
 
FireStrike Extreme hit 75C, 38% fan speed, and 112.9% TDP according to GPU-Z.  I wish I had tried it before the flash, but it is what it is.  (Don't feel like playing with Afterburner right now, but might in the future as I used it on the old GTX 580).

I can manually set that, so the bios update is still a good one, but that fan curve they use is strange. It doesn't even pass 25% on load now where it was 45% idle before.

Yes, I think the addition of the 0% fan speed is great, but I don't know why they went with such a weak fan curve. I'm easily hitting 80°C+ in games now. A lot of the great reviews for this card are it's low temperatures and EVGA might begin to lose those when they start shipping with the new BIOS.

Agreed. The new fan curve solves one problem, and creates another. One step forward, two steps back.
