Just set a custom fan curve using MSI AfterBurner, and get it to auto start on system startup. It's extremely lightweight and doesn't give any issues.

I have set it such that the card now idles at 25% fan speed (around 650RPM) for temps below 45C, and from 45C to 80C, I have the card to increase steadily from 25% to 66% (1720RPM). It's a good fan curve, the same I used with the previous card I had with an identical cooler, the EVGA GTX 960 SC.

Still waiting for the bios update that can be flashed for AMD cpu users

That's a pretty good curve. I set it to something similar. I like to keep it under 70, so I have it hit about mid-50s around that, it's a hot day today though and in most games it should be fine with that.

I don't always turn Afterburner on however, most of the games I play are pretty old and I didn't necessarily even really need the 1060, but I just felt like buying it. Coming from an EVGA GTX 670. I think for the most part I'll just let it run as it is, opening Afterburner for more intense games maybe, which I don't know when I'd even play. I do think your curve should be more of the default though.

Can you post an image of your fan curve? I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this particular bit of GPU tweaking. I've never messed with fan curves on past GPUs, but I wasn't comfortable with the temps I was getting after this bios update.

I just installed the EVGA geforce gtx 1060 SC gaming and precision x oc yesterday and I'm noticing I'm at 33C. I notice when I turn the fan up that I can't hear it and am not sure it's running. Any help would be awesome.

Ehi thanks a lot for the BIOS update!
It works very well for me together with Precision X OC but I am experiencing the same problem as some other users. When Precision is closed the fan turns automatically to 0.
I think it would be nice to avoid unforeseen overheating to set the fan to run at its normal 1100 rpm if Precision is closed but still maintaining the possibility to use the full range from 0 to MAX when Precision is open. Would that be possible?

It absolutely is possible and absolutely makes sense. In the absence of a custom fan curve, whether from Afterburner or Precision X OC or any other fan control, the default behaviour of the card should be to protect itself from overheating in the way that makes most sense. And that isn't doing nothing and remaining at 0% regardless of temperature - that's asking for trouble. Hopefully the next BIOS update will bring the goodness of *allowing* silent operation but with the *sense* of not melting.

So I just got the EVGA GTX 1060 SC and I've playing with it for a while. I decided to flash the new bios...OH MY GOD, it's unusable, it reaches the 80º C at full load. Unfortunately, I'm a dumb ass and forgot to backup the stock bios (86.06.0E.00.60). Would it be possible for someone from EVGA to provide the factory BIOS for this card, please?

The new fan curve is waaaaay too shy.
