Crap, looks like frequent crashing with even a +100 clock boost in games when VSync is OFF.

From what I understand disabling v-sync is not advised, something about these beasties go beyond what the APIs expect in frame rates and buffers get confused.

Most posts I've read havesaid something like "I was getting 176fps and it crashed"

That's not correct. Disabling vsync is not wrong or dangerous at all. It just makes hardware work without limits exposing unstable overclock, simply because gpu is not restricted to render 60 or 120/144 fps.

What I mean to say is see if it crashes at stock before you condemn the OC.

I just installed my card, did some testing and i could tell that even i paying more to have a FTW, i paid a monkey thinking overclocked above average, it does the same OC standard of any pascal, expected EVGA could release a bios with at least 1.25V so we could enjoy the full power of FTW.

Very frustrating buying a FTW for the first time and find that the manufacturer does not select or configure their best designs for better overclocking capability.

Well, they kinda do. Thats why there is also the FTW DT, for chips that didn't meet the stable OC requirements to be FTW.

Got my 1070 FTW Watercooled.
Gonna copy a bit from overclockers forum:
Was able to push 2114MHz from GPU and 9234MHz from the memory (Samsung).
Maxed the voltage bar in MSI afterburner to +100mV. The card runs at 1.031V. Wish for custom bios one day, as the Power% never goes above 90%. Is this normal??
My CPU is a i5 3570K@4800MHz
K-boost off.. Can't get EVGA precision XOC to run :D "0xc000007b"
Firestrike run:

For me +10 more MHz on the memory will present artifacts. +20 will crash the card in Fire Strike's second graphics test. The core stays ~40 degrees at all times and does not throttle at all.
Samsung can go all the way to 9300MHz effective frequency. Hynixes aren't that good :/ You can check which you have on front page of nvidia inspector

More details in my case mod thread:

PS. if your game crashes at 170FPS or something like that, you can still kill the vsync. Just add a FPS limit to the game with rivatuner!

What? 2114 MHz on the core with 1.031V while overvolted? Mine overvolted needs 1.09V and can't even hit 2000 Mhz. Whatever never heard of a chip getting these clocks with that voltage.

The voltage bar seems to do nothing. The setup is stable with +0 on voltage and it gets exactly the same voltage readings. Im using msi afterburner because evga precision xoc wont start up :/

edit: Maybe I don't have the newest beta of MSI afterburner..
