AMD showing nvidia how it's done when launching a new GPU. All retailers are well stocked already (those are RX480s btw)

Funny.  They didn't have squat for inventory at most locations that I saw.  Sold out and not because they had a million orders in under 1 minute.  That is one picture at one location.

At least they didn't "open preorders" and not fulfill them like EVGA. First come, first serve. Or don't do preorders.

Both times I was able to add the card to my shopping cart was through evgas auto notify. I was on the website as soon as I got the notification but by the time I logged into PayPal it was sold out. Which is why I don't think they're in stock

I think a more likely explanation is that the notifications are delayed. The ones from nowinstock are delayed by several minutes.

I'm not using nowinstock though, and as stated before from me and other users, the cards show up as in Stock on evga.com and you're able to go through the checkout process, but at the end of all you get an error that the card is sold out

And after all that, does it still show up as in stock? If so, then it probably is some sort of bug and the cards were never in stock. If not, then you simply weren't quick enough. The point I was making is that EVGA's auto notifications are also probably delayed.

Then your intended quote was as corrected above.  And even that hasn't been proven to be true aside from no pre-order remark.  They sold out yesterday in minutes and none have reappeared anywhere yet while many vendors have yet to have a 480 to even sell.

And I'm not defending anything here.  I'm only pointing out the error in your statement as things stand today.

I miss the days before the internet. walk in brick and mortar store... walk out with Atari 2600. None of this pre-order selling crap delays of limited stocks.

This is very easy to do, when all you are doing is relabeling the previous R9 cards... AGAIN... For the third time.

While i'm dead set to a 1080 FTW i'm not waiting until August to get my card.
I know stock is almost non-existent to countries outside NA/EU but others brands are already showing in-stock from local retailers in south america. If i can't get mine until late July i'll settle with a Xtreme Gaming or Strix OC, no hard feelings EVGA just business :P

Im in the same boat as you.  ordered 1080 ftw amazon may 31st and can get no answers. watching people get them on newegg with no preorder is pretty frustrating

I also ordered a 1080 FTW from Amazon on 5/31 and just got an email from them with a stock update.
It asked if I was willing to accept the new ship date of 7/30 (2 months delay!!!) and if I didn't log in and approve (which doesn't work on their app btw, they would be canceling my order).
I only hope that TSMC's manufacturing process has matured some and maybe these later wafer batches will OC a bit better or something. I feel like I deserve something for all this waiting. Like many others I off loaded my gaming cards and have been in withdrawal.
Maybe by the time it finally ships I will be inside the window to Step-Up to a 1080 Ti. (Please don't delay launch of the Ti to compensate)
