Is this some kind of marketing gimmick to release like 2 cards per day?
I saw the notify email for EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW available and literally 2min later it all out of stock. What are you guys doing...EVGA?

I think it's to prevent auto scripts picking up the cards. If those who own scripts to auto buy the cards don't even get a chance to sit there and run them the better. If the stock remains for 20 mins plus that may give them time to set themselves up. They will turn around and obviously up sell the cards. That's my theory. Probably not even the case lol

I made so many grammar mistakes here and the sentences don't make 100% sense - I'm sorry, I'm not fixing them lol

+1. I ordered the FTW 1080 June 6 from NCIX Canada after a long chat with them when they said they were "expecting" cards around June 17. Then they told me they should be getting these cards July 11. As of July 8 now I get this standard response they seem to be sending to everyone:

"Unfortunately, the item in question is on backorder at this time, and we currently don’t have an ETA for when it will be available again. If you don’t want to wait for this item in particular, or if you would like to swap it out for something else instead, just let us know, otherwise we will leave the order as-is and ship it out to you as soon as it is available again.

Thank you again for understanding, please let us know how you would like to proceed."

NCIX charges the credit card at order time, not waiting for the product to ship. So they have been paid and after more than a month from order date I even had to pay off the credit card bill which came due. I wonder where the incentive is to ship my card when everyone (even my bank) has their money and are happy but I have no product. And I have zero leverage at this point. Simply put, I would have made different choices if I had known that once the bill was paid I'd be receiving a "you'll get it when you get it" response.

It sounds weird and it looks like someone who was drunk typed it out but there's sense behind it. What don't you understand? =)

If you want to be tough about it. Call your credit card company and make a claim. You never received the product and get the money back. Don't let them toss you around holding the keys. Just hearing this and other stories about them. I never have or will order from those crooks.

It's not EVGA doing it and that's what people don't get. EVGA has to wait for Nvidia to send them the GPU chips, which are a very low amount since Nvidia is so far behind in production, then have the cards made and also have the FTW and SC versions factory over locked which takes more time. Plus, EVGA has to fulfill Step-Ups along with orders, which are only 1 of 2 major graphics card companies that offer it. That is why the cards get sold out so fast and they are so scarce.

I hear you Fattys but I'll wait a bit longer. No Drew, I'm not blaming EVGA. I'm sure to a large degree their hands are tied. With Nvidia pumping out "founders editions" I suspect even EVGA (one of Nvidia's closest partners) is on a wait list as well.

I was willing to wait longer for a fine EVGA FTW 1080 as we all knew FE's would be around first. I suspect, however, that if I ordered the card from EVGA June 6 and rolled the dice with "brokerage fees" I might have an FTW by now.

The biggest mistake was going with a retailer who charges at order time (June 6) and tells me June 17, then July 11 and then says they have no clue. Maybe it will ship after the 1080 TI's come out. LOL.

It was never important to me to be one of the first with a 1080. Just wanted a fine card that doesn't give me gaming issues as my two Asus 770's are way past their prime. I learned my lesson. Next time will be in stock or on a store shelf.

I think it's everyone's fault, just because there's no structure.

I placed an order for two GTX 1070's ACX (non-SC) on June 17th from amazon and till today, nothing. Then in the first week of July, I'm getting messages from nowinstock for the SC counter part being available. So I cancelled my initial order and got the SC's for $40 more, and two days later, they were at my door.

Now I gotta wait for the regular 1070's to be in stock, hopefully this year, since amazon only limits 2 GPU's per account, and I'm looking for two more.

Hi
Not to hijack the thread. Just a bit of topic. I already sent an email to support, chatted with a customer rep, and PM'ed a mod. But still haven't received any answer so I'll just put it here.
I tried to check out a product (wanted actually a GTX1080 but no stock) so I tried to check out a 980 just to see how much it would cost to ship to Saudi Arabia.
But I got a notification saying that "You are not allowed to shop in eu.evga.com after checking your profile".
So that king of surprised me since I ordered several items before from EVGA EU.
Apologies for being out of topic. Just a bit relevant since I want to order a GTX 1080 from EVGA webstore.

Thanks
