It is unuseful to order HB bridge in EU as no VGA are available at this time other tan FE

it seems that the increase in performance is achieved when the cards are configured pci ex 8x 8x ... if the cards are 16x 16x does not have performance gains seem

Really? so are you saying that no one runs two FE's in sli?

Actually this makes sense in light of the fact that when the inter-card communication saturates a single bridge that it begins to use the PCI-E lanes. However I haven't seen any explicit tests for this. Is there a valid benchmark that demonstrates this statement, or are you conjecturing?

a friend with two 8x 8x cards and two ribbon has increments fps .. I with one ribbon to 2 did not change, but I have the cards to 16x 16 x ... I assume that the limit where they have increase with hb bridge is have the cards to 8x 8x

This doesn't sound like a carefully executed series of tests. interesting, but there are too many variables.
If it is true, then I presume that even in the 16x - 16x configuration that there is sli traffic taking place on the PCI bus, which isn't a good thing if you can get it off the bus. Any tests should take random load on the PCI bus from other devices to be closer to real-world example.

Can the LED switch at the bottom of the bridge be changed while hot, or does the PC need to be shutdown before changing the LED color with the switch?

I changed mine while it was on. No issues doing that so you should be good.

If I convert a fan-cooled GTX 1070 to use a water block (specifically, the EK-FC 1070), will the EVGA HB bridge work with it?  I know that the Nvidia HB bridge is too wide.

Never mind.  Silly me.  I found the answer in another thread on this forum:  "Yes".
