Games that I have played fine are now starting to crash after my upgrade to the 1080. I can get about maybe 15 - 30 mins of GTA5 online play before unexpected closure. Sims 3 I know has always had issues but the crashes were never this frequent, could play hours at a time before and now it's less than an hour. Never had issues with Black Desert online and now that closes with no error to report. Those are the few I've noticed not working anymore. I've done a complete wipe of the graphics drivers and installed them fresh. If anyone can help me figure this out that would be wonderful.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having this kind of issue but I have never experienced anything like this. My computer hasn't crashed at all and I have been playing for weeks GtaV, Witcher3, NfS, Bco3, etc... I hope one of these helpful guys can help you.

Do a fresh clean install of Windows. It will erase your problems, wiping the drivers clean wont do much.

Welcome to the Forum Valdamon
Did you update the Bios on your Motherboard?
Are you Overclocking your CPU?
Have you reset the Bios back to the Default or Optimized Settings?
Did you just remove your old card and install the new card?
Or did you remove the old card Drivers and then remove the old card?
What was your old card?
Do you have MSI AB or EVGA PrecisionX 16 installed if so did you remove the software?
EVGA PrecisionX 16 is NOT support nor is the current MSI AB, you need to use EVGA Precision XOC and their is a Beta Version out their somewhere.
What is the Full Model Number of your GTX 1080?
What is the Driver Number you are running on your GTX 1080?

Wow! Wipe put your operating system to install a graphics card? Seems a bit harsh, especially if you have many important programs and settings that would all need to be set up again. I hope I don't run into this when I get my card.

Sad to say but with the OP is on Windows 10 he may not have a choice.

Then the OP needs to do some troubleshooting right D-007

That is an unacceptable "fix".
Changing a gpu should not result in a necessary clean install of a whole OS. That's beyond ridiculous..

I'll try updating the bios. I didn't think such a thing would have a such an effect on video games or is it more for the graphics card?
I am not overclocking
Bios is on default settings
I removed the old card, put the new one in and updated the drivers. After the issues with games crashing I did a complete wipe of the graphics drivers and installed again.
Old card was an evga 680 4gb
I installed EVGA Precision XOC after the crashing started thinking the card was overheating. But in some of the games it crashed on that was not the issue as temps were within normal range.
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION
Driver Version 368.39

A clean install might not be a bad idea, but it is something I would like to put off for at least a couple more months. I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7. I also have around 2 terabytes of stuff, the majority being games that I'll have to set a weekend aside to set everything back up.

Remember that you only have a few more days for that Free Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7!
Remember to remove all your Hard Drives and leave Only the OS Boot Drive in your computer if you reinstall Windows 7 then upgrade it to Windows 10!
