they are archived in separate pockets for a very good protect, i have 5 hard disk die from 2010-2016.
you make money from the optical drive with time.
optical drives only "MAKE" you money when you sell content you burn. also if you have over 100 BD's just sitting around, when was the last time you actually found a reasonable need to go to them for that old data? the only real use for BD's are for storing family videos and pics for archival purposes. everything else can be recreated or redownloaded or small enough to easily scatter across multiple drives, usb flash included, and online free storage. (google, dropbox, ect)
