I am talking long term. Beyond the 1080, because there will be more graphics cards, right?
 

In what context was the "no plans" said in the stream? The rep comment on OCUK may have just been in passing.

I believe EK has responded to both of these questions on Reddit.
 
No EVGA blocks refers to the 1070/1080. Anything beyond that is too far off / product not announced can't comment.
 
The OCUK comment was made by mistake as that employee was not informed of EK decision, which was made only a day prior.
 
Obviously, "plans" can change. Maybe EVGA's new partner doesn't perform well. Maybe EK sees enough of a business case and announces new plans. Until such time, no EK blocks for custom EVGA cards.

 
Where did you hear that he wasn't informed? Like another poster mentioned, he specifically stated that they would not be from EK, so he had to know.
 
Also to answer the other quoted person "no plans" was mentioned when I specifically asked if it was true that there was no waterblock being developed for the 1080 Classified and Jacob (I believe it was?) answered that there are no plans at the current time for one. Maybe if there is enough demand things could change. I'm sure it is in the twitch stream if they kept it recorded and as a highlight on twitch. This was already after asking once about the blocks and then asking why there would be none that he mentioned that things could change. The original answer was no plans if I remember right. Someone else on reddit confirmed this as well when they asked in the stream.
 
Either way, not having the Classified on water or some kind of better heat management is just not cool (yep). I can't imagine that whoever gave the green light for this launch let them with nothing in terms of extra cooling for the Classy. :(
 
Also, like I mentioned somewhere before, I'm currently running the 680 Classys on the HC block that Swifttech made, keeps the temps cool on these 680s and have had 0 issues either one of them. (SLI) About 40C using ~1.3v going to ~1300+- was my last time using EVBot I believe.

I sold Titan Xs a number of weeks ago in anticipation of potential single card 4K performance. I have £500 of watercooling gear just for a single 1080: I had hoped the Classified version with an EK block would be it. 
 
I do not know of another manufacturer who bins their chips, while also having custom blocks made (either in house or from a 3rd party like EK). 
 
EVGA, I hope you have had some inspiration over the long weekend and now have a beautiful water block in mind for the classified version! It doesn't make sense without better cooling.

I'm new to EVGA because I've always been an ASUS customer, but I immediately fell in love with the Hydro Copper version of the 1080... is there any aproximate price that this could be? I know that it's too soon to ask for a release date, but I'm SO looking forward for this.

Not gonna lie, EK makes the best waterblocks period.  That is why I bought a 980Ti Hydro Copper.

I'm new to EVGA because I've always been an ASUS customer, but I immediately fell in love with the Hydro Copper version of the 1080... is there any aproximate price that this could be? I know that it's too soon to ask for a release date, but I'm SO looking forward for this.

No price announced yet. I'd guess more than a Founders Edition would cost, but not too much more. Just because the ACX cooler versions from EVGA are coming in just under the FE price.

Looking at the EK 780/980TI classy block, it looks like it will match up to the 1080 classy. Did a side by side image earlier yesterday and it seems to match pretty good. Hope that's the case, it would be nice to use the same block for the 3rd time, hoping the 1080TI keeps the pattern going too. 

I was looking at this as well. Aside from any height issues, it looks like a match. Obviously the memory VRMs will need some type of passive heatsink. If the 1080 Ti uses HBM2 it is almost guaranteed that legacy blocks won't work.

I don't understand... What makes you think he was not informed of the EK decision? Right in his post he specifies that the blocks obviously won't be coming from EK. "More details will come but not from EK this time around you may have seen."

I was referring to a comment made by EK on OCUK (can't find the post now... lol. It's on Reddit somewhere). Simple misunderstanding.

Koolance makes incredible blocks and I always had a great experience with them... I rather just go with them.

I've bought 4 quick disconnect (QD3 BLACK) and 2 pumps from Koolance.. The QD3 flaked all of the paint off in under a week and clogged up the blocks, using distilled water only.. The reservoir for the pump wouldn't even allow the threading to work. Koolance refused to replace the QD3 fittings and made me pay to ship the reservoir back before they would replace it. The shipping costed more than buying a new one.

Koolance is a horrible company, no matter how good their block is. I have no trust or want to ever deal with Koolance again.

I would look to bits power, as they did make a 980ti Kingpin block, since it shows that they are willing to make a block for a nonreference PCB.

Hey they screwed you over too? My QDs flaked apart and got stuck open. They blamed my lack of using Koolance brand coolant which is utter crap. I use Mayhems pastel white. Nothing in that is going to corrode a fitting. If you make a fitting that only works with you coolant you're either lying or make a shoddy ass produt. Recently found out that shortly after my failed RMA attempt they are beginning to release a redesigned black QD that specifically lacks the black coating on all surfaces that touch coolant. So they KNEW is was an issue and spat in our faces. Screw that company. Avoid them at all costs.

Because I don't trust "someone" to just be able to make good stuff. Especially when "someone" is still unknown, and has not said they were going to release anything. I'm also not willing to wait 2 months to get a block on my card :-)

Timing could definitely be an issue, but I would guess someone will step up and fill the void left by EK for custom pcb blocks.  I have used various AquaComputer components in the past, and their Kyrograhics blocks for the 980 got excellent reviews, and the acrylic topped ones look great.  I also had 2x EVGA 580 Hydro Coppers using Swiftech blocks that looked and performed great as well. 
 
Just saying that there will be options at some point, but I have had way too good of an experience with EVGAs support and warranty to make me want to jump ship to another GPU OEM simply because EK won't be playing ball in the custom PCB field this round. I am very curious now who is making the 1080 Hydro Copper blocks...

We already have to wait like 2 weeks for the FE blocs to be available. That's if you are in europe. In the US, you need to wait for 3rd party to sell them, or you can order them directly in Germany, but then shipping will take at the very least a week. Probably more. It means that there is no way a classified/FTW block will be available in the next month. It's just not possible. They won't have the time to design it, test it, and mass produce it. I'm not willing to wait 2 months for these cards and blocks to be available. So I'll probably go with a reference design. Since apparently that's all we get.
 
[EDIT] I would not assume too fast that EK is not playing ball. I'm not saying they are not to blame. But they are loosing more in this than EVGA is.
