Yes, waterblock is waterblock, only should be made... I think performance difference between different brands are very small.
Only is problem because no one made blocks for custom cards except EKWB, and because of that people use on them.
Other company only should be forced to made and 10 companies could finish job easy only if EVGA design them that would be best.
This water block from picture Hydro Copper is best for now, every year they build nicer and nicer stuff.

Still hoping for EK to have a waterblock available for the 1080 Classy shortly after it launches... as I definitely plan on putting it under water asap.  Had a hell of a time getting as block for my 780 Classy when it was released.. mainly due them being sold out almost as soon as they came in stock.  I'm sure it'll be the same this time around.  So, not holding my breath.

Why? so you cant use the new bridge? Find a company that supports the bridge and the block. Remember 700 series and 900 series both were handled by ek and both had delays for the hydrocopper. EK didnt even makes a 980ti classy specific waterblock last time. Hopefully this new company can handle the order better.

1. All Hydro Copper blocks we made had the Terminal pushed further back on the card so it would in theory be compatible with the new HB bridge if we released it.

2. We didn't make HC blocks for the 700 series. First one was Titan-Z.

3. All delays in production were on EVGA. We had Hydro Copper drawings and designs and were ready to start production weeks in advance of each respective GPU launch but received no confirmation from EVGA until way late to start.

4. We were ready at all times to make more blocks. We can fulfill an order of 500 in less than a week if necessary. They simply didn't order proper quantities to maintain stock levels.

Just to reiterate a little more. Evga sent over a 980 Kingpin PCB for EK to make a block. When it came out, we bought blocks and there was pins that kept the block from fitting. The original PCB didn't have the pins, and it caused a huge backlash against EK. The PCB shown in the original pictures even showed that there were no pins in the firmware port when it was made.

EK allowed us to take a dremel to the plexi/acetal so that it would fit properly and evga later gave users permission to trim the firmware port pins down as well.

It's little things like that, that kill partnerships. Thankfully, ek continued to make blocks for evga and even made the 980 ti KPE Block. It sounds like that contract is fulfilled and wasn't renewed though.

I stand corrected. The perceptions that I think many had was evga had the cards ready and waterblocks weren't ready, as I knew a person that had a RMA and was awaiting waterblocks and so did a few others on the forum. I apologize.
Concerning item 1, so was EK previous statement that the bridge not being compatible incorrect? Also what about OC.uk where it states that you would be making classy blocks.

I guess the writing has been on the wall for a while now. No matter whose fault it is, we (the enthusiasts) lose.

Yeah, indeed. Was counting on a 1080 FTW + EKWB... not this time.

This whole things puts me in a pickle. I always buy eVGA cards, have so for many generations of my cards now. But I also only buy EK water cooling products (so far). Now it seems that's no longer a possible combination for anything but the basic stuff. I DO NOT want to end up in the situation I am with my current card where I was promised by the EK rep that yes, there was a block for the one I considered buying. Bought it only to find out that no, sorry, our block doesn't ACTUALLY fit and we won't make any (revisions). This time I WILL water cool whatever card I get so now I guess I have to chose what brand to stay loyal to, get an eVGA and get a block from whoever make it, or stay with EK and get whatever card they chose to support.

I keep saying to my self that I don't want to install a water tank and pump in my computer system. !!!

I kept saying that as well and look where I am now.   Installing a tank and pump in my computer system.

I'm in a similar position. I've invested in watercooling and don't intend to go back to air.

Unless Bitspower does something with EVGA, I can't imagine going with EVGA for my next GPU (assuming no EK support). I guess I could have a custom waterblock made, but that is a lot of work and $. This is indeed a crappy situation.

Hopefully things are sorted out between the two by the time the 1080 Ti rolls out.
