All jokes aside, the vrm upgrade may help a little, especially having more than one vrm for the memory, but it doesn't change the fact that the core will be 100% the limiting factor whether it has 5 phases or 10/14. The core can not exceed it's own limits. If it is a bad overclocker, extra power pins, and extra vrm phases will do nothing. If it is a golden chip on a reference 5+1 board, it may be limited by the single 8 pin, but the vrm will not be to blame in that case. The lack of more power will be to blame.
Too many people assume that because there are more phases and the card is considered "enthusiast" that it is guaranteed to out perform a stock card. This is a falsity and a trap to some that are not aware. These cards have the potential, but not a guarantee, to outperform the reference series.
