I'm baack... sorta...
Guys, first of all... Sorry i vanished. Family stuff got in the way, both the bad and the good kind. The good being +1 family member in training.

Anyway. AHowes, i tried to answer that pm you sendt me in the middle of it all, but i have too low post-score to pm and... Yeah, i kind of gave up. Sorry.
As you guessed i used the screws that came with the 780waterblock+backplate. I was kinda cowboy-fitting them on as they where coned and i had no other screws handy. I'm sorry i wasn't clear about that and that i wasn't able to confirm the mm's of the tim-pads in time. Glad you got it working, though!

I'll try to keep an eye on this forum for a while.

I wish I had realized that the 980ti Classy block would fit on the 1080 Classy...I'd have bought them instead of the FTW.

Oh well.....these FTWs are great overclockers.

I thought there was only a 780 block from EK and the 780 block is what the 980ti's used?

Yes.  It's exactly the same block.  The blocks I used on my 980ti Classys actually say, "780" right on them.

EK has confirmed via email this resistor (circled in red) may cause a compatibility problem:

Did any of you who got this to fit run into any compatibility problems with this resistor? How did you work around it?

Can an EVGA REP provide 'technical diagrams' / measurements please?  -- to be forwarded to the R&D team at EK.

Thank you. :-)

Great question.  I'm curious myself as to how they avoided making contact, or if there was ever any danger of it.  It doesn't look like it's any taller than the memory modules, though.  If that's the case, you could insulate it from touching the block by using a thermal pad there.
