I got my EVGA 980 Hybrid, but this year for tax return I am going to upgrade it to the 1080 hybrid or 1080ti hybrid if that is an option. Sucks because my 980 hybrid is still a relatively good card, but I wont be able to do much with it :(

That's why I sold off my 980 ti hybrids. Value is dropping fast for the used 900 series. Better to get $450 per now then $200 if I'm lucky when the 1080 ti launches and the market is flooded with 1080s.

I wanted to buy 2x used 980ti's for 200 bucks tbh...then i was like nah i want a single hybrid 1080's instead of used 980ti hybrids

Can't blame you. I'm not a fan of sli. I keep going back to it, but continue to not like it.

How much EVGA plan to OC Hybrid?
I ask because higher clock is better but stability is most important thing.

Looks like ASUS have some problems with GTX1080 Strix OC and want to stop production.
Now I don't know is it ROG STRIX-GTX1080-O8G-GAMING with 1754 Base Clock /1784 OC Mode problematic or some other model with even higher clock.
I remember that we complain why EVGA decide to go with 30-50MHz lower clock for FTW if we talk about that Strix model.
But looks like they advice people to cancel order and expect non OC Strix model in July. Too many RMA thanks to instability because high clock is reason.
It's fair from ASUS because they say that and didn't allow to people suffer with slow RMA process and delay RMA to customers blaming other things and advice downlock as solution. It's much better when company say clearly to customers what's happen. Probably NVIDIA driver change situation for many people who have chips overclocked to the end and once barely stable become unstable in most situation.
Later they explain that as not true and they expect limited number of Strix.
It's very danger when manufacturer don't stress card properly and all cards overclocked to the end have big chance to become unstable when NVIDIA improve drivers over time.

do u have a link or any proof of this?

my Asus Strix OC is performing beautifully in my machine. it hits 2101mhz right out of the box and my card only gets to the high 40's to mid 50's after hours of GTA V with almost everything on max.

I think it was a rumor or something. Basically a non issue and a few people had issues. Over at Reddit Nvidia it was squashed rather quickly. Your temps are obviously not normal but others report staying in the 60's.

A recent thread pointed out that it was the non OC Asus RoG cards that were having troubles.

Someone will make a waterblock for it.
Either EVGA will do it or one of the other companies. Maybe classified won't make sense this time round, or just take a few months to figure out the trick to pascal. They've already announced the intention of creating hydro copper and hybrid cards. Just gotta wait while they sort it out.

"Mid July"

We are still on schedule....If i dont see nothing from the hybrid end july im going for the gigabyte waterforce 1080...and if i dont hear nothing from that either, i'll prob buy an msi gaming or a sea hawk even tho i didnt want the sea hawk that much

I'm pretty much in the same boat, My last 2 cards have been EVGA, 670/970, and would really like to get a 1080 hybrid... but with no information other than "soon" and the zero supply, i might just have to go with MSI if i see it come up.

ok cool. i was just wondering, really, because i haven't read anything negative about the Asus Strix OC 1080. the rumor about the regular Asus Strix might be true though because i've noticed that they have very few of those in circulation.

when planning my build, i made GPU airflow a huge concern. it's one of the main reasons why i went with the NZXT Switch 810 case. i have 2 140mm Noctuas for intake and 2 140mm NZXT internal case fans focusing air right at my GPU:

That's a nice looking case and system setup. I never had the patience for that kind of detail work.
My EVGA 1080 FTW goingredients to be under water once the hybrid kit gets released. Might get my system a cleaner look if I get a dg87 case though.

Since we are all waiting and waiting. Anyone have any insider ideas as to what the Hybrid might cost?

I'd suspect in the range of a founders edition card, but if I am undershooting a bit, I might just bite at the next time a SC becomes available. My 780 SC has done well over the years and when gaming I can't hear it because of my headset being on anyway. That said, it's almost always at 40% fanspeed even when gaming anyway lol.

MSI SeaHawk was briefly seen for $749 - I assume the EVGA Hybrid and Gigabyte Waterforce will be about the same.
