I managed to snag a pre-buy on the FTW over at Amazon; however, I am coming from a 980ti Hybrid that I really liked as well. I also sold said 980ti hybrid in order to move to the 1080 (probably not the best financial decision one could make, but too late!).

So I am back to my old 770 at the moment, and really eager to get a new card. It sounds like the Hybrid isn't too far behind at this point? Meaning, probably best to just cancel the FTW and wait out a bit longer for the Hybrid? I'm also a bit nervous about stock levels going immediately (thanks scalpers!).

Thoughts?

Thanks

how much did you get for it, how long ago did you sell it, just wondering? i sold one for $530 a couple weeks ago (after 1080 announcement). not sure if that was good or bad, though i bought it for about that much. i am definitely waiting for the hybrid. i just hope its not ridiculously priced. once i get it, i will sell the other 980ti and maybe pickup a second 1080 hybrid. not sure yet. or maybe rock a single 1080 hybrid until the 1080ti hybrid comes out.

I'm waiting for a Hybrid. I had a couple of opportunities to snag a Founders Edition and a FTW pre-order but I passed.

If you liked the 980ti hybrid so much you are probably going to miss not having something similar. You can always keep the FTW preorder and add a cooler to it later on?

i sold my SLI 970 FTW+ cards for $600 as a package i lost about $100 per card, waiting on my 1080 FTW preorder from amazon, personally i'm a bit disappointed in the clock speeds but i think that can be resolved with a cooling loop and tweaking. That being said i don't think i did too bad with the sale of my 970's to upgrade to the 1080 FTW. Only time will tell i guess

i think you got a steal! i wouldn't recommend a 970sli setup to anyone at this point, unless the set was $400 or less. i mean the guy might as well went with a 980ti for 6gb of ram vs 3.5gb. and no SLI scaling issues at all (even though sli is now better then ever).

Yep This is my next rig: Case and all.

i like it too, but i would probably throw in another rad or 2 for a 4 card setup.

i just can help but think that cpu isnt going to run very cool if its the last in the row, or the last 2 gpus are going to be pretty warm in that setup; depending on the direction

i know it would be a mess of tubes, but ideally i want to go cpu - rad - gpu - rad - gpu - rad - pump (i would only do a 2 card sli setup since scaling isnt recommended past that).

Why wouldn't you just run 3 separate CLCs at that point?

Like this?

that one is good too. but a few too many fans for my taste. also, i know its not a huge deal, but I like having the radiators in the correct orientation as well (having the top of the rad being the highest point of the loop, with the tubes on bottom).

didnt mean to offend. your system is  cool, we just all have different taste/goals/preferences. i mean i like my system too, but its far from cool. sure its powerful and logical. but it could be much cooler looking.

i was watching some linus videos, and at some point you stop gaining lower temps by adding fans. if you were bored you could always test by removing some. you might end up getting the same results as before, but while being more quite.

your cpu cooler is upside down. correct installation recommends the tubes be at the bottom, so any air in the loop sits at the top of the rad and not at the pump or cpu block. same for your top gpu, the air could potential be sitting at the gpu. the bottom gpu is the best since the air is probably sitting at the top of the rad (or side of the rad since it sideways), and the gpu is lower then the rad. again, not trying to talk $h1t. just making an observation on what is recommended from the installation guides of AIO coolers in case anyone out there doesnt know which way is recommended. and i have read many people say who cares it will work anyways.

Non taken at all.

Sold it for $600, but lost like ... $60 something on fee's, so about the same as you. Paid $700 for it in December, so yeah, I definitely lost out ... it was a stupid/compulsive move.

Agreed, I'd rather have the Hybrid, but just don't want to wait.

Hi all, I am new to the forum and really looking forward to release of the new 1080, Hybrid coming from a 980 ti Hybrid Sli setup and having the opportunity to upgrade one of my cards through the step up program, I already sold one of my card and now I am in a waiting list for a "upgrade" in the other. Unfortunately there no other option than the reference design board with a few different cooling solution at this time, I'll probably sell 1080 EVGA will send and buy two 1080 Hybrid as soon this available.
