I prefer BIOS control of fans over software control.

BIOS always runs...Windows...well...

Love the sig pic - Trumptastic...lol

Yeah - this election will be like the others...choose the lesser of 2 evils...or choose the less-crazy of 2 crazies

im allocating funds with my latest paycheck and im wondering, do you think this card will be orderable within the next two weeks, or can i allocate my funds for software that i will need at some point in the near future. both this card and the software cost about the same

Damn, I wish I could step-up to this from my SC 1080. A very decent card, but the hybrid looks great and I like that it is quiet and keeps temps very cool, even overclocked.

I might buy the Hybrid kit and retro-fit it, but would have been nice to get the FTW pcb as well as uprated power delivery.

My guess is it's gonna be a solid month before you'll be able to "easily" get one.

Still disappointed that EVGA haven't gone the full water block route like gigabyte.

At least they have increased the size of the blower fan to the same as the ACX cooler.

Also wish they would finally implement fan control via precision for the radiator fan.

On my 980ti hybrid I installed noctua industrial 2000 rpm fans and I run them around 50% off my corsair commander and it's great.

Going to wait for the 1080 ti hybrid though, with AMD Vega going to be announced in a month or two which will match the Maxwell performance, I fully expect nvidia is keeping the 1080ti to release afterwards. Hopefully before Xmas.

I'm pretty sure the hybrid cooler or the 1080ti is going to be identical though, makes me consider maybe just building another custom loop and not having a 120mm fan/rad and blower in my system.

I like the hybrid's solution, there are drawbacks to going full block - since you are transferring heat from the rest of the components using the same contact as the gpu, and that's not going to benefit gpu temps. Let the gpu be cooled exclusively, and let the other components get their dedicated-but-quiet fan.

I edited my comment, I meant gigabyte not msi.

I agree, but I think a 140mm rad would be able to handle the cooling of all the components.

I just prefer 140mm fans in my case, I'm guessing the cost benefit isn't there though for EVGA to scale up to a larger rad and fan when it's just dissipating the GPU heat only.

At least they have went with the ACX fan this time rather than the stock blower so it should be quieter and cool the VRMs better.

Either way I'll def be buying the 1080 ti hybrid when it drops, I just can justify the 30% performance bump between the 980ti and the 1080 for the cost.

I'm hoping in a few months the 1080ti will bring that performance bump past the 50% mark.

I'm not sure a Ti would have anywhere to fit in with the performance from the current line up, since isn't the titan sitting exactly where the Ti would go, performance wise? They could theoretically squeeze in something between the titan and the 1080 I guess but there's so little room, it just seems like it would be a bit redundant this gen.

I'd agree on not upgrading from a 980Ti though, not a big enough jump, I'm coming from a 980 so got a nice boost to look forward to.

itsnt that exactly what happened with the 980, 980ti and titan x? the 980ti came out $400 less then the titan x but performed 99% as well (or better with an OC). so it seems like one could assume the same situation with the 1080 series. the 1080ti will come out in a year and make the XP looks like a purchase for those with too much money.
