EVGA Released today the Hybrid Cards.. which has me scratching my head like ?!??
Its a hybrid water cooled (closed) / Air offering.. With the SAME Clocks as the Classifieds?!?  So what the hell is the water cooling for??  This is insanity, and leaves me wondering what in the heck the guys over there are doing..  I have my EVGA SLI Brigdge, sitting nicely in a new box, waiting to mate it with some hydro coppers, sometime (Supposedly) in October, early november.  IF that comes to fruition at least.

I do like how Zotac has positioned the ports on the bottom side of the card vs on the edge. This keeps the overall height more manageable in smaller cases. Although it would still be too much height for my Air 240.

When you get this installed and start to experiment with it, I would be interested to hear your results.  I am very interested in the ZOTAC ArcticStorm card as an alternative to the Hydro Copper since EVGA is just sleeping on the HC with no regard for the customers who are willing to spend the extra cash for it...

It's still up on Newegg and I am SO tempted to just bite the bullet.

Sure, no problem.

I've been with EVGA for many years. My 570 with an ek block needed to be upgraded and I couldn't wait any longer for evga to release details about the hydro copper. And I didn't want to go through the hassle of tearing apart a new card for water cooling this time around.

So excited to finaly have a 1080 on the way! Hopefully it will get here by the weekend so I can play the Battlefield 1 Beta on my 1440p ultrawide!! hehe.

Hey All,

Just reporting back as requested by jxm1013

Got my Zotac Arctic Storm 1080 installed after a quick trip to Microcenter on Friday for a new 90 degree dual rotary fitting. Had to replace a run of tubing and make a couple small adjustments to handle the larger size. But overall, it wasn't a tough transition.  Man is this thing big!

First game I played was Battlefield 4. I cranked the settings all up to Ultra and I have a 1440x3440 Ultra Wide monitor.

Completely blown away. Coming from my 570 it was like night and day. I was getting roughly 100-120 fps with dips down to 80 in graphic heavy situations. Card never broke 44 degrees Celsius.

I haven't tried overclocking it yet, but to be honest, I really don't have any intensions to any time soon. I can play any game I own at max settings without even getting close to my monitors 60 hz refresh rate. So consider me satisfied. lol. The Battlefield 1 beta plays butter smooth as well.

I do have a little remorse for deviating from the EVGA camp as i've always been happy with them, but I seriously couldn't be happier with this card. The Zotac support reps i've dealt with have been extremely knowledgeable and fantastic to deal with.

Here's the review I left on the Newegg product page:

Good luck to all of you who are waiting for the Hydro Copper. I'm sure it will be a fantastic card. :)

P.S.

A quick note for everyone. If you don't already know what Fast Sync is (not to be confused with G-Sync, V-Sync, or Free Sync) I highly recommend you guys try it out.

I am getting zero tearing with no noticeable input lag on my setup.
