Oh way to spoil it...

Zuhl, did you at least take a moment to make some 'Smores?

You must have known I would try to romance anything. How can that be a spoiler?

Playing on survival mode is one heck of a nightmare...

The following are just examples of what I have ran into so far:

If there is a turret, run.

If there is a mob, run.

If you find a rat with a bomb on it, ticking... run.

When you use a stim to heal, it heals very slow... You literally have to run away and wait for the stimpack to fully heal you, otherwise you have - no chance.

When a car explodes, you die, even when you have a distance from the car.

Getting smacked by the radiated "zombies" a few times, you die.

The pistol by itself is useless during a gun fight with a mob. Your only best survival attempt is to hide and wait for them one by one and use VATS up close with a shotgun to the head, scoring a 95% hit, which gives a 100% chance to incapacitate them.

The "Super beasts" (can't remember the name of them, but they're huge and have big teeth. lol) the mini gun has little impact on them. You will go through at least 1,000 rounds before you take it down. You stand no chance while using power armor. Only way to survive his hide in a building so it can't get to you, and throw the "kitchen sink" at it, while it tries to get to you, but it won't be able to. So, that's your one "cheat" in order to survive.

Survival mode basically insists that you use drugs to get the boosts.

Survival mode in itself on this game is deadly, and I challenge anybody here to try it out. Start a new character and set it on survival mode. See how long you last, or "survive".

The survival mode is how Fallout4 really should be played, because it definitely brings the real life into the game.

What's the difference? Is it just an increased difficulty level or is there more to it than that?

I'm not sure. That's what I ran into so far. the radiation storms too have a higher impact, and radiation is absurd as well. So, I guess you can say "yes" to your question... Just an increase in difficulty.

I'm just saying that if you all find it too easy, even on normal, then I would suggest to try out survival. It's killer, at least for me.

I've got my hands full on 'Normal' difficulty right now. Most games I start out on 'Easy' and then play the whole game again on the next highest level until I am at the 'Hardened' or highest level. I have seen videos where if you come across a Legendary enemy or know where one will spawn and change the difficulty to Survival Mode they'll drop a more powerful Legendary weapon for you.

Survival mode also increases your chances of more legendary npcs attacking you more periodically

Well... turns out my save got corrupted some how. I started a new game and no more crashes. That sucks. I was level 55 too, had everything completed, had almost every weapon, and Sanctuary was a fortress...

Deleted all the mods. I won't let that happen again...

This was the problem all along why the game kept crashing.

That's pretty much a given. Mods have a history of causing strange behavior that go back in time. It seemed that every time a patch was released or a DLC was installed, troubles started.

I was busy hunting for the Mechanist when I had to switch to my Windows 10 backup PC and the Steam Cloud didn't have my progress saved. I had to shut my main PC down due to a fire emergency. LOL   My Swiftech Maelstrom V2 burst into flames right where the wires go into the pump.

Was the damage extensive?

Well, Zuhl... Now that I started a new character, I'm going to use the Mouse and Keyboard this time (No hating!). Finally, I'm putting the game on survival mode.

No mods, no making my own ammo, only survival. going to be at large on this one.

I was reading what Bethesda said about survival mode. It's tough. Good luck.
