I'm trying to gather all of my possible companions in Santuary Hills. I really want to snuggle up to Piper. I just have to hunt her down first.

Poop, I may have went too far.... I was doing tons of missions for the girl and the rude guy that are the brotherhood of steel. I wanted to switch things up a little bit so I started the Nick Valentine mission and now, my other missions are gone. The only missions I can do are "Getting a clue" and "Road to freedom". I don't want to finish the game yet. Should I go back to another save before the Valentine mission or do I still have a chance to not end the game?

Do the 'Road to Freedom' quest and it will open up more possibilities for you.

I had a bunch of my companions hanging about Shady Hills, but I started sending them to surrounding settlements.   It just seems that a settlement that has a companion staying there has fewer problems.

I had a bunch of my companions hanging about Shady Hills, but I started sending them to surrounding settlements.   It just seems that a settlement that has a companion staying there has fewer problems.
 
 

I think I travelled with Piper for a very short time then dumped her at the Starlight Drive-in for Cait. I couldn't send her back to Diamond City for some reason. It was too painful watching her farming carrots so I gave her a Supply Line. Nick Valentine is waiting for me at Sanctuary Hills too. I have a ton of Technical Documents for Proctor Quinlan but I don't think it's a good idea to take Curie onto the Prydwen with me since she is using a Synth body.

I know what you mean. You get really attached to some of those companions, don't you? Cait just walked away and took it well while Strong seemed to pout about it. LOL
