I've had to do that a couple of times now.  Once because I screwed something up and needed to reset to default and also because the game had gotten twitchy on me.

Which one? What Zuhl mentioned or what I did?

Needed to reset my main Fallout INI file.  I was kind of stupid and didn't save a vanilla backup of the file.  This was all during the first days that I had the game and I was trying to get it to work properly on widescreen resolutions.

Well I deleted the FO 4 files and down loaded them again. It started where I left off so that part was good to know. However, it did not solve the problem. I then did as Zuhl suggested (thanks for stepping up Zuhl) but this too proved to not work. Now I have to either go back far enough to see if I can find a good save or start from the beginning.

Did you bind those keys yourself or are they the default keyboard settings? If they are the default keyboard layout then just go into your game settings and select 'Restore defaults' for your keyboard/mouse/controller. It's nice to hear my sweatheart main PC humming away again. It's music to my ears.

The keys are standard setting, no binding. I looked at the game settings option and that is for the video card.

Music to your ears?
But you shouldn't be hearing that music. LOL

I think you get some menu options if you press esc when you're ingame and it pulls up some settings menu. I'll have to check it out when I get time.

EDIT: It's right after you start the game after you hit any key to begin. You'll see 'Settings'. Click on that and you'll see options like Gameplay / Audio / etc. I think it said 'T' for defaults. I just rotate items using LMB and RMB.

That didn't work either. It's looking grim. Do you think if I contact Bethesda and offer to pay them some caps they might take care of it? LOL

Bethesda would take all of your caps and leave you naked in the Wasteland without a companion. LOL  I never tried F or G but I just found a video showing that those keys can be used. I just use my mouse. I didn't know you could use the right mouse button to rotate backwards until yesterday. LOL   I just kept spinning the object until it came around again. I think the keybindings are part of a puzzle you have to figure out at the beginning of these new games.

EDIT: Before I forget a new patch was downloaded and installed yesterday.

anyone heard any more about the beta testing of the DLC for this game? (I know, beta testing for Bethesda is like alpha testing for most others :P ) I heard the first DLC was coming out in march I think, but I do wonder if it'll be a real beta test or a PR beta (I'm leaning to the second in my guess)

I had to register and sign-up for it. I haven't heard anything yet.

You sir ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Something was switched and now I have full control of wall placement and rotation. Now I have to use my mouse instead of the F and G keys. Now I don't have to go back to find a good starting point.

I didn't know about the other (G) rotation and kept using the F key the same as you did with the mouse key. I stumbled across the G key by accident. I do like the zoom feature that the mouse brings to that part of settlement building.

I'm back in business.
