So setting Zuhl's exploits for a moment.  I thought I would bring up a discussion that's been somewhat ongoing about Fallout 4 between a friend and myself.  Well okay, it's less of a discussion and more like ridicule of the person who thought this was a good idea.

Why do laser weapons require recoil reduction mods?

That's a good question.
I'm guessing here. Maybe Bethesda figured that their designed laser weapons had some recoil and placed that into the game for better stability. I believe that when shooting an ingame laser it does give an indication that there is some recoil.

In reality I never shot a laser weapon and don't know if there is or isn't recoil associated with it. Maybe your friend has and KNOWS what it's like.

This is our argument about it.  And we're both in agreement.   It's a beam of light.    When you switch on a really bright LED flashlight does it try to jump out of your hand?

I found an excellent rant video that amusingly and somewhat coherently dives into the whole science of it, but due to language Im not sure if I should or could post a link to it.    So I'll say "link on request".

I did a search and according to what I read, it's reported as negligible recoil.

Your friend should keep in mind that it's a game.

A beam of light? Yes. But is there anything that creates that light that can cause recoil?

Actually, it was me who initially brought it up.  And we're not coming to blows over it or anything.  This is more a debate while having a beer.

And not to start another debate.  This is meant to be more of a "why did they do that" discussion.

From what I have read about past Bethesda games (FO 3), they were known for doing things to reference about something else in real life. For example a TV show/series that was funny/stupid and they would do something along those lines.

Ok, I'll buy that but the owners manual didn't say anything about it. That may also be the reason why I hear a lot of noise coming from it. One moment it is grinding and the next it is squealing. But the nasty one was the smell. It smelled like crap and I couldn't stand it anymore. I sold it to the Armor Dealer in Sanctuary.

That might explain the random trickles of pee coming out of the trigger assembly.
