So, apparently 128(?) (or is it 117?) damage rifle scoped damage does not do that big of an impact on an enemy from far away. So, I took my bolt rifle that adds 10 energy damage with .308 rounds (.50 is more scarce than .308), with a regular "dot", and then I took my double shot bolt rifle and added the .50 rounds with an attached scope. That made a huge impressive change, and now, from a far distance, I do almost instant kills from such a great distance.

I put the difficulty on very hard, and it definitely adds a challenge. You definitely want to make sure you head shot them before they get up close. Definitely getting swarmed by those giant mosquitos adds a real challenge now.

Has anyone shot at a mini nuke being held by a super mutant? Good times...

Preston Garvey needs to die.

I thought that once I freed up The Castle he would chill out a bit.  Oh no...

*sigh*

Ya I just love how he calls you the general, but he's giving you orders...

Does Valentine give out side quests?
In case you don't know it there is a bulletin board in Diamond City that gives out missions. No caps from the city however but it is a lead. Also talk to the settlement population as they usually have something.

Yes once you reach max affection with him he gives you a quest that has to do with events from the cops memories he got on events that transpired before the war. He also gives out two quest with case logs you must manually pick up, only pick up one case log at a time sometimes picking up both will bug one of them out. Not going to say more than that.

Thus I gave him the minutemen generals outfit and hat...

I also banished him to The Castle.   Yet that still doesn't stop him from assigning more crap.   Well between him and overhearing the stuff that pops up on that annoying Minuteman Radio that constantly plays at The Castle.  Well, until you shut it off.

I thought I was finished with Garvey missions, because I had dropped by to get my XP for several "handholding" missions and he hadn't said a single thing except "good job" and likewise.   Well apparently my luck ran out.   It would seem that another settlement is threatened by something... Again.     And once again the "threat" is on the other side of the map.  So how were they threatened in the first place?  And seriously, they all have guns and between the various turrets at that settlement, nothing is getting too close.

There are now a couple of mods out that shuts him up.  I think it's time to use one.

To the subzero-guy-user (rofl . I forgot your username)... To answer your questions, yes. Don't let people that are discouraging you not to play fallout 4 take your enjoyment away from fallout4. It's a good game. Did Bethesda try a new "innovation"? Yes. (Not really sure I would call it an innovation though, probably more half-assed than an innovation.) Did it work? (Innovation no, half-assed yes. haha) but that doesn't mean you will not have fun. It's good. Just buy it. You won't regret it.

It looks good at 1080P too.

This is actually a very accurate way to describe Fallout 4.  Said half-assed "innovation" would refer to its half-assed attempt at cinematic storytelling, included to try and capture the attention of all the Witcher 3 fans out there.  It captured their attention alright, and seems to have pleased very few in this aspect.  It does have less role-playing than Fallout 3, but far better gameplay mechanics and the most authentic open world level design ever.

You're thinking of BF3PRO.

Wait for the game to go on sale.

Or if you're really patient, wait for them to release all the DLC's and then get the GOTY or whatever they call and have everything at once.  And on sale.   That's what I did with Skyrim.  I didn't get the game till all the DLC's were out and most of the bugs corrected by the modders.

Contrary to popular belief most of the bugs are fixed by official patches.  With Fallout 4 however those patches are taking a while...

True.   But not all of them.   Skyrim is a perfect example of modders fixing the game after all the official patches had been released.   Same can be debated for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

Anyway, I haven't hit any big bugs in Fallout 4.  Unless you want to call no support for widescreen a bug.   Still waiting to see if a proper solution to that can be figured out.

Alright, chores are done.  We're off to mod Preston Garvey into blissful silence.   ( mean, I could kill him but that rendering him non essential would really feel like cheating.   Throwing him into the basement tied and gagged is much more satisfying.
