I already started a settlement at my farm and set up a supply line so I have all of my goodies in my workbench. Them 'Charred Feral Ghouls' are a bugger to kill. I found a way to beat them by switching to my 'Exposive Combat Shotgun' and blowing at least one of their legs off. They just lay on the ground and keep wiggling but still won't die. It takes a lot of rounds to finally kill one of them. I better choose a nice weapon for Nick to use because whatever he's using doesn't cause any damage. I need to introduce him to Laser Rifles at least.

Nicks default is a pipe revolver.  It's a pretty weak weapon, especially considering the levels that your at.

In my current playthrough, I gave this gun to Nick.  In the last playthrough I gave him a built up laser pistol.

I got a few Legendary Hunting Rifles I can give him. The low fire rate of 3 is a concern to me so I won't use them.

i don't have currie yet

I found Curie but haven't selected her as a companion yet. I'm kind of stuck on Cait.

Curie is actually starting to get really annoying.  She's constantly floating into my line of fire.

I actually don't tend to keep any of the my companions with me long term. For the most part, they're too annoying to keep around long term, mainly due to their stupidity in combat. I keep them around long enough to maximize their relationship and get the perk associated with them, then I send them to a settlement and move on.

I've been pumping up my "Lone Wanderer" perk so that Im fully prepared to go solo.

I noticed some new upgrades added with the DLC. I think there is one more Ninja Perk available. I have leveled up three times and don't know which perks would do me the most good.

Are those supply lines confined to the island or do they also include the mainland?

When it comes to taking care of those Feral Ghouls, including those Charred critters, my Assassins Shotgun seals the deal in close quarters which is how I deal with them. Very seldom do they get close to me as one shot from that sends them flying and dying. LOL

The only reason I have a companion is to haul things. While Cait hauls less due to her armor, she is funny. And I can't complain as to her crossing my line of fire. Lucky so far as it only happened a couple of times, whereas Nick is nasty for that.

I assigned a supply line to Longfellow's Cabin from Mirelurk Construction Site but when I got there the cupboard was bare. I hadn't discovered the location yet so maybe the Provisioner got lost. LOL   I finally found out why Nick comes in handy but he still stinks in combat.

I also assigned a supply line to one of the settlements on the mainland. It worked. Now I have additional backup in the supply chain.

One of the items that is very needed in construction of certain defenses and a certain power generator is nuclear material. I have found that many of the creatures on Far Harbor island carry that and it is more prevalent than on the mainland.

I was curious if the Settlement Under Attack would follow me over to the island. It does. I was to the North West side of the island when Jamaica Plains came under attack. So I had to leave the island and go there. I made it.....this time. But I left immediately upon receiving the notification. A word of advice is to check your Pipboy frequently as you have only so much time to react before you get the quest failed notification.

Some of the enemy are tougher than on the mainland while some of the others are the same. I do know that I will have to create a better weapon for certain enemy.

I can see where you would miss out of a lot of the story line without Nick being there. But with all due respect to Nick, he's no Cait. LOL

This DLC is fun!!!!

Dukman,

Have you had to change any of your mods since the DLC release? I'm interested in the settlement cap.
