I bet I went through more pain than you have trying to fix my crashes with Fallout 4.

I have no doubt that you did. My goal was to stay away from that which causes this other than the game itself and to be honest here so far very few problems in that area. Whew.

Okay had to skip past a bunch of posts because you guys are farther into the story than I am, despite the length of time I've been playing this.

One thing I will hand to Bethesda, they can make it difficult to stay on task.   Im constantly saying that I intend to pursue the story line, only to get side tracked by somehing else entirely.    This time it's more settlement building.  Or to be more specific it's building my workshop/storage building in Sanctuary.

As for Dogmeat, he has his own personality.   Just watch him when your kicking around a bit, that's when it'll show up.  And despite his obvious limitations in combat, it is kind of nice to not have someone chattering on and on and on about the same old things over and over.

@Whiskers, Stalin and Zuhl

If you are curious about a mod or mods, let me know which one(s).  I'm currently running a total of 90 mods.  So chances are Im probably already using it and can tell you about stability.   Many of the mods Im running aren't affected by the updates and patches while others are.  Yes, if you get one of those mods it will require you to update the mod itself after the game is changed, but if you use a mod manager, it's not that big of a deal.  And it's only really the big mods that need updating.  Alot of your others are simply "set it and forget it" as they tend to affect things that patches don't need to fix.

I personally don't hesitate much when it comes to running mods in a game and I accept the risks and frustrations of doing so.   Personally, I think it takes mods to fix all the stupid crap that Bethesda did or didn't do to the game.

Bethesda did a good job here and kept it very interesting. It's to the point I have to ask myself if I have a son floating around somewhere. LOL I am spending a lot of time building now that we can use cement to do so. Been buying like crazy and then going out to replenish the caps. Cait sure whines about it too. Then she appreciates me showing her a good time by letting her get wild in the killing department. Women.

Do you have a mod that raises the settlement building cap? I have read (Bethesda) that this is touchy as it screws thing up. Also, is there a mod that increases the settlements in the game?

I'm having this weird problem with Fallout 4. All the music is cutting of about 5-10 seconds, then the announcer comes on. It doesn't matter if its the minutemen radio, or Diamond City radio, they both do it. I have tried restarting the computer, but it still does it. I would hate to have to uninstall and reinstall to fix this issue. Maybe I need to check and validate the files on steam, who knows...

I'll give this a try and see if it happens with me. I didn't see anything different before but it may have changed.

"All quiet, which is how we like it. Stay tuned for updates."

This is what I noticed once I got the radio up and running. I'll verify it though.

I am using two.

Build High - Expanded Settlements increases the overall size of several (16) settlements.

Higher Settlement Budget: This one increases the cap, but requires you to use the console to some extent.   So, I haven't effectively used this mod yet as I haven't pushed the cap yet.

Another one to look at is Settlements Expanded.  This also increases the settlement budget/cap.

I listened to the Freedom radio and the Diamond City radio and both work normal. The song ends normally and either the announcer comes in or another song is played.

I scanned those recommendations and the way I see it, they aren't quite ready for prime time. At least for me that is.

I am looking for height but more so for expansion. And definitely the raising of the cap so as to be able to add more goodies. Lots of goodies!!!! LOL

Those are older mods, so technically, they're past prime time.

Build High expands the Sanctuary area up to Vault 111 to across the river to just up to the statue.  Height wise, well it will allow you to build structures as high as you want.

Higher Settlement Budget and Settlements Expanded both increase your cap to allow you to far exceed what Bethesda capped it at.  So either mod would allow you to add goodies to your hearts content.  If you're looking for a single mod that does both, I haven't seen it yet. But I was looking at the forums for SB and it sounds like the latest patches and add on's have rendered the mod useless.  If I remember, I'll look into that later and see if it can still be activated.

But with the beta release and imminent release of the GECK, there should be a number of mods coming out that are able to dive alot deeper and cleaner into the guts of the game.

Thinking about the height that one can go with these mods, I wonder if anyone has noticed that there is a range limit that the defensive weapons can go. I've noticed this when I was building high (no mod) and watched as the lower elevation weapons engaged but the higher elevation weapons would not. And I am talking about a massive invasion where all guns should have been blazing.

The GECK should allow for better mods.

I had some super mutants try and raid the drive in. They got to the base and managed to get in side, but they didn't get far because of the 2 shot gun turrents inside it.
